Agree with the 'villain?' Does that make you an a**hole?

Personally, I found myself agreeing with the "villain" of the movie. He made some extremely valid points regarding humanity, and the human overpopulation problem which exists (and is only getting exponentially worse). I’m not part of one of the Abrahamic cults (Judaism / Christianity / Islam) so I haven’t been programmed with an anthropocentric mindset – I don’t think that humans are better or more deserving than the other life we share this planet with. On the contrary – other animals aren’t responsible for this mass extinction event we find ourselves in (only 5 in our planet’s entire history) / other animals don’t commit genocide / other animals don’t take part in deforestation, poisoning rivers & oceans, overfishing & overhunting / other animals don’t commit barbaric & savage acts in the name of profit or religion. Other animals don’t consume grossly beyond their needs. Other animals don’t try to rationalize selfish & sadistic behavior of their own species. I could go on and on, but I’ll stop here..

Maybe the human herd SHOULD be culled. Though his method may have not been the most humane (ironic word, isn’t it) approach. If this sort of person actually existed, perhaps instead of killing off currently-living humans, which is a bit cruel, he could have just sterilized them and effectively killed off future generations, solving the problem a few decades later.

At this point, that actually seems like the ethical action to take. At this rate, in a few centuries, humans will single-handedly destroy this planet’s biodiversity & natural landscapes (millions of years in the making). I think the problem is the hoards of small-minded humans, who are brainwashed to believe in their delusional divine superiority – brainwashed to believe they should "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth..." This is an archaic, outdated, and dangerous manner of thinking. It’s a shame that our level of consciousness hasn’t expanded as rapidly as our level of intelligence/knowledge.

What do you think? Did the "villain" have the right vision – just implemented in the wrong way? Could his goal be achieved in a less painful / cruel / barbaric fashion?

the human overpopulation problem which exists

No it doesn't. There is enough viable land for everyone.

Not using it correctly and being wasteful IS a problem.

I don’t think that humans are better or more deserving than the other life we share this planet with. On the contrary – other animals aren’t responsible for this mass extinction event we find ourselves in

Well, you are wrong. Many animals DO eat their food supply and lay waste to land to the point where they starve themselves and others.

Other animals don’t consume grossly beyond their needs.

Wrong.

I could go on and on, but I’ll stop here..

You should have stopped before you started. You wouldn't have sounded so stupid.

Maybe the human herd SHOULD be culled.

If you really feel this way, then by all means start with yourself first. I always have more respect for people who actually do what they say they believe in. To show you how much respect I'd have for you, I'll donate the bullet.

At this point, that actually seems like the ethical action to take.

It seems that way because you are psychotic idiot.

At this rate, in a few centuries, humans will single-handedly destroy this planet’s biodiversity & natural landscapes (millions of years in the making).

But it is ok when nature does it? How will all of those things exist if we have another ice age? Or if the core of the earth goes crazy and starts spewing lava everywhere?

I think the problem is the hoards of small-minded humans,

Well, you are a perfect example of a person being small-minded, but we know that you don't think.

It’s a shame that our level of consciousness hasn’t expanded as rapidly as our level of intelligence/knowledge.

It is amazing that you can spell "level of intelligence/knowledge."

What do you think?

That you are an idiot and instead of whining about how bad things are, you should kill yourself and put us out of your misery.

reply

Nice.. The typical response I'd expect.. So far people are living up to my expectation.

reply

Well, yes. It is the typical response given to the typical idiot who thinks that the world would be so much better if everyone except himself and all drones who think like him are in it.

Seriously. There is no need to wait any longer. If it is that bad for you, kill yourself. That would be one less mouth to feed and one less carbon footprint to deal with.

reply

Sorry bud, belligerence and name-calling doesn't validate your argument (did you make one?).

Humans are a cancer to the world and people like you who mindlessly defend humanity and rationalize their destruction, simply because you're part of the species, are the worst kind.

If you really feel this way, then by all means start with yourself first.

Nice one, real original... If everyone else in the world agreed to, I wouldn't hesitate.. Beyond that, I try not to consume beyond my basic needs (food / water / consumer products), I contribute hardly any non-biodegradable/recyclable trash & I'll never have children, etc.

Yes, you are just too stupid and immature to understand it.

Humans are a cancer to the world

You are an idiot. We have as much right to be here as any other creature.

simply because you're part of the species, are the worst kind.

But not nearly as bad as the whining douche-bags who think we are a cancer.

Nice one, real original... If everyone else in the world agreed to, I wouldn't hesitate.

What a p&ssy you are. If you think things are so bad, then kill yourself so you don't have to deal with it. You and the rest of your ilk will be doing everyone a favor.

I'll never have children,

That isn't so much by choice as it is that no woman would ever want to be close enough to you to have sex.

If you really think things are so bad, then actually do something about it rather than whine on a movie board and say that we'd be better off dead. Make some actual contribution to the world, develop ways we can use less resources, better ways to recycle, etc. Don't just be a little anus licker and say everyone should die.

The only people who will ever agree with you on that are the other sh!t stains who have no life and no intelligence and will only complain instead of accomplishing anything.

reply

It's interesting that you "try not to consume beyond your basic needs" but you consume electricity by using your computer to talk to strangers about movies.

Beyond that, it kind of does. If you believe we're just animals, no better than any other, then we still have the same rights as any other animal. If you believe we're something greater (either in a religious sense, or simply through natural evolution, or even both) then logically, we're entitled to exploit nature and other animals to a certain extent.

Either way, suggesting that innocent people should be culled/sterilized/whatever just to assuage your feelings of guilt about your relative prosperity is pretty cold-blooded.

reply

Considering he made valid points and you didn't? Yeah, that's typical when some moron spouts a bunch of lies, others come along and point them out. It's also typical people don't like admit they're wrong.

Why don't you kill yourself? Seems like a good question. Oh, you mean kill off others, but not you, how noble of you.

reply

You rambled, and you were taken to task for it. Just live and learn.

Don't like what I'm saying? Then call 1800-Ima-CryBaby and ask for Waaaaaa.

Excellent response, love it.

reply

Don't complain about people insulting you in the replies when the title of the thread is a call to action of doing that very thing.

And, by the way, yes it'd make you a big one.

There's no overpopulation problem, there's a contamination problem. We could have the numbers we have now (and many more) in a sustainable way, most just happen to choose the easy path.

And don't pretend to have the moral high ground and condescend to others when you're unwilling to lead. If you aren't willing to, like the other guy said, kill yourself and prefer to do it only if everyone else is willing to, then you're really no different from everyone else.
A mere follower, just another member of the "herd". This shows how artificial the high-ground you believe you have really is.

It's ridiculous. Especially his idea to save the aristocracy...who would get the work done?

It's what this world needs!

If the world needs humanity killed off in great numbers, then help it out by killing yourself first. 👍

Oh but I respectfully disagree, Mr. Ryanrdb. As the late, great George Carlin once said, "The planet's not going anywhere. We are." And if you agree with the villain that does not make you an *beep*

The herd could definitely be culled a bit. However, if I were the one to do the culling, I'd start with the ones Valentine decided to save. Politicians, tax-evading "philanthropists", pop artists, bankers, CEOs; they would be the first ones to go. And then the ones who would take their places. And then the ones who'd succeed them. Because those people - the so-called 1 % - they're the ones who caused the current state of things. It was in their power to make the world better, and yet they turn it to worse.

Take George Soros for example... he supported the war in Balkan, the war in Ukraine, the mass immigration to Europe, he ruined British Pound back in the 90s - all for his personal profit. He caused so much harm in is life, that in order to make the world statistically better, he wouldn't have to do anything, except die.
And that's just one guy. Now imagine all the other "Soroses" out there - Gates, Zuckerberg, Albright, Dutch and British royal family, Rotschilds, Bushes, Clintons, all the Goldman Sachs guys, Saudis - and imagine how could the general quality of life raise if all these vampires and their associates were gone.

Culling of the herd is, in general, a healthy idea. However, any culling needs to start with the ones who consume the most, yet produce the least. The ones who not only don't benefit the rest of the herd, but actually cause harm to it.

reply

You'd have to use a "bell curve" and eliminate all of the "takers" as well. Those who breed uncontrollably, those able-bodied people who refuse to support themselves, etc.

Otherwise, you'll have the movie "Idiocracy" on your hands.

I feel like the sterilization method is the best one. People are just too obsessed with creating more humans. Multiplying in excess with no natural predators unlike any other species on earth is sick.

reply

Who gets to choose who gets sterilized? 

reply

Sometimes I look around me and I think I'd be up to the job. lol Of course we all feel that way sometimes, but yes that doesn't make it fair.

...then whoa, differences...

Indeed. When people are applauded for having 12 kids ("haha are you going to start a football team harharhar" instead of "ffs pull your pants up, you f'ing rabbit mutants!") I feel slightly ill.
