Robert Redford

Classy actor.

Every scene with him in is elevated by about 25% just by his presence. Can't help wondering what the hell he is doing in this movie though...

I felt the film might have been stronger without him, and they could have given Howard's character more to do.

What if Grace had been a stronger focal point, and she'd recalled the stories he'd told, and that made her more of a bridge between the stories of the past, and the realities of the present?

I felt she could was moreso just there to give caring smiles and all, and could have been a bit more proactive in the story.

Robert Redford is magnificent in this film. I just can't imagine anyone else in the role. No one can tell a story like he can. He's explained in multiple interviews why he chose to do this movie. It takes him back to his childhood when books were everything. "Once upon a time" were always magical words to him and storytelling was a big part of his life growing up.

Oh yea, magnificent! The best acting I've seen him do since Butch and Sundance!
Actually, with his colored hair, it's difficult to watch him work. Ever since that stupid fantasy film "the horse whisperer" he's been difficult to watch. But hey, gotta appreciate Bob for Sundance.

I think that Robert Redford does a good supporting role in this as the sympathetic grizzled grandpa. He's not in it that much but he does his job well.
