wait, how exactly was Gavin redeemed at the end? the ONLY reason he stopped trying to capture Elliot was because the bridge had collapsed. he still in a NY second would have "made his mark" (his words in the film) by capturing Elliot if he had the chance. this is the same guy who started cutting down parts of the forest that he was not supposed to (or wasn't given a greenlight to do). i saw no redemption in the Gavin character.

It was definitely there, however slight. He risked his life to save his brother & his brother's fiancee, and it was implied by his understanding nod to them afterwards that he now recognized Elliot wasn't a monster and wouldn't be pursuing him further.

I found that very satisfying. I hated him for doing what did to Elliott during most of the movie but it's some times nice for the villain to come through at the end.
