Cancelled?

I'm mixed between if the show 'IRONSIDE' will be cancelled after one season or it'll be renewed. The Pilot obtained 6.9 views, which is quite good considering it's on the NBC channel, however - the show did get negative responses from critics. What do you think will happen? Will it be renewed because of the high ratings or cancelled due to the negative responses?

reply

No. This show is finished.

It will likely be NBC's first Fall cancellation. The only question is whether they'll air the remainder of the season or it will get what ABC did to Lucky 7 and just pull it from the line-up altogether.

reply

Exactly. This is most likely no longer a case of whether it will see a second season or not, it's whether it will make it to episode six or not.

An hour long drama starting with just a 1.3 on one of the big 4 networks is DEADLY. Playboy Club started with a 1.6 and fell to a 1.3 by the second episode. It did not have a fourth.

Get ready for the AXE!

reply

The second episode was better than the first. It'll work.

reply

Agreed. I enjoy this show.

Everyone has a right to his/her opinion. Be thankful we have that right.

reply

It not it's going to be cancel with the next week or so I never watch it and don't care I feel this is a joke

reply

Can't see who it won't be, the last episode scored a HORRIBLE 1.1. It would take a miracle to turn Ironcrap around.

reply

I actually like this show, I hope it isn't cancelled.

reply

Don't hold your breath waiting for the renewal.

NBC has canceled "Ironside" after five episodes. This remake is based on Raymond Burr's classic 1967-75 series of the same title, this time with Blair Underwood, aka
"L.A. Law" as the disabled detective.

As of October 23,2013 NBC will aired the last episode of the series.

It will be replaced with "Dateline" with Ann Curry.

As I said! HAH!

TOLD ya!

So Phylot you want a cookie or something? Why are you so damn happy this show is cancelled? This is the third post I saw of you boosting about it you being right that it is being cancelled like you're freaking Nostradamus or something. For someone that doesn't like the show(I assume), you do frequent the board often. Do you have anything else going on in your life? Look, shows come and go, but you boosting about it makes you look like a real assclown.

How old are you?

reply

Awww, poor little butt-hurt shill. Ironcrap got the AXE like it richly deserved! FACT

Welcome to Ignore, you crybaby moron.

reply

Phylot, you are a disgrace for this community. Period.

About Ironside, it deserved to be canceled. The show wasn't that bad, but it wasn't spectacular either. Quite boring by times, annoying cast and bad writing.

Really?

Ideas are one persons interpretation of a potential course of action......and totally dependent on that persons credibility. OW GOT THAT WRONG!!!

reply

Yes, really. Whether it's dependent on one person's interpretation or not, in fact no matter on what it's dependent, an idea is judged on its own merit, not on its source. In other words, to evaluate an idea, you don't need to know who originated it.

the show got cancelled due to the ratings. After the first show, they ratings continue to decline. They saw how the show did for this week and they panic. I know the show was going to be cancel because for one, there was no word of the mouth that this show was good. They are done, i didn't know this was a remake of an original Ironside from years ago. they are not going to pick this show up.

reply

When I first saw the promo of this I told everyone around me that this show would be cancelled in less than four months.

Just about no one wants to see a black dude in a wheel chair as the main character of a show. (No racial connotation implied)

reply

I don't mind him being black or in a wheel chair, I don't think either of those factors was important at all.

What hurt this show IMO, aside from almost no advertising was simply that it was not original in any other way. It pretty much hit every cliche "cop with an attitude and a chip on his shoulder" that has been done to death in a 100 other shows. Making him black and in a wheel chair is just window dressing on top of a formula that is almost as old as TV.

Beyond that the acting was flat and everyone acted like you should just know what was going on already (no back story or development?).

All we really got to see was him breaking the law and than getting away with it because it solved the case. At least most procedurals go through the motions of presenting a mystery and not just resorting to beating up every suspect or dangling them off of buildings weekly.

There's only so many times you can accept a cop breaking the rules without consequences, it gets old fast and leaves open too many other loopholes which were never even attempted to be explained beyond: "he's in a wheelchair so he gets to do what he wants", except even in the flashbacks he was behaving this way so even that doesn't work.

The show had some potential, the cast could have gelled in the long run, but it came out of the gate already feeling stale and old and it's not shocking at all that it was cancelled; I just don't feel the cancellation had anything to do with him being black or in a wheelchair.

Have you ever seen the now-defunct cop drama THE SHIELD? The main cops on that show always wound up breaking the rules and covering up how they did it practically EVERY week, and that show gradually acquired a following that kept it going for at least six straight seasons. Seeing as IRONSIDE didn't even get half a season to show what kind of show it had the potential to be, we're never know whether the writers could have changed or expanded on that more, or just gradually have the character phased out of doing those kind of things.

Oh,well, another halfway decent NBC show bites the dust. All I'm gonna say is that this new upcoming season of GRIMM better be good as hell, as long as I've been waiting for it.

Excuse me, but you DID imply a racial connotation by making that stupid statement. Hell, you didn't merely imply it, you flat-out SAID it. Maybe YOU didn't want to watch it, but I sure as hell did. I was starting to like the show, and it was refreshing to see a cop show that didn't have some 20-something white dude as the lead for a change. I swear, NBC kicks new shows to the curb faster than any other network, and yet they're still probably wondering why can't keep a steady lineup going like the others. I remember way back in the day NBC would nurture new shows until they got off the ground ratings-wise, but nowadays, they don't even have the patience to do that due to all the competition from cable, the Internet, and social media. What a shame-----plus it was fun seeing Blair Underwood hold down a series as the main lead, and play a tough bastard for once.

No racial connotation implied??? Come on!!! Try a little harder to convince me! I am a white woman and loved seeing Blair Underwood in this role and thought he was great and thought his character and the show was very interesting and complex. I am really bummed that this show was cancelled and I hope enough people will write in to try to save this show. I know I will.

People in wheelchairs can do most if not all of those things.

Do you seriously think they don't have sex?

reply

[deleted]

That's not always true. It depends on exactly what is damaged.

I've known guys with non-functional legs who were perfectly capable of sex and reproduction.

It all comes down to which set of nerves have the damage, it's not just automatic that paralyzed legs also equal no sex.

reply

According to IMDB.com this morning the show has been cancelled. The final show will air on Oct 23.
