I like the castle, very detailed and atmospheric. I'm also really into Gaston's look, I think they've made him perfect!
On the other hand, Belle's gown is a big letdown and I still can't decide how I feel about the Beast. In the animated version he was scary and intimidating, while in these images he just seems hurt and kind of sad.

I like it all except Belle's gown, she looks practically naked without the yellow gloves!

I reckon Gaston is gonna be the stand out performance in this film tbh

reply

My thoughts exactly (about the Beast at least), but more on the positive side. I personally see him looking sad and hurt as a good thing.

reply

I noticed in the trailer that in his portrait, he's actually depicted as a child. The film is aware of the tender age he was cursed and thus he'll probably be portrayed in a more sympathetic light.

reply

I really liked the dress! The leaked pictures were kind of disappointing me, but imo it looks perfect on her (I miss the gloves too, but yeah, I can get over it).

I did some reading on how they made the ballgown, and I can't wait to see Beast spinning her around in it. From what I read, it sounds like they made an effort to use materials that will allow it to flow the way her layers of skirts did in the cartoon. Plus, it looks like it will have a bit of a sparkle to it when she's under the candles.

So they ditched out on having Lumiere be a candle holder and into a tiny gold man with a candle hat and hands?

reply

Well, how else are they going to do be our guest?

reply

I liked the older design, but it lacked a distinctive face. And the featherduster looks terrible.

reply

Not feeling Belle or Beast, sadly. Add me to the list of people who wish the ballgown had more personality. And Beast looks like he fell out of a nineties video game. I'm hoping that can be fixed as the movie nears completion.

This film looks a lot less colorful than I had imagined. Maybe it was a little foolish for me to project the color scheme of the Cinderella remake, but I was kind of hoping it would be similar.

On the bright side, I'm actually pleasantly surprised by Kevin Kline as Maurice.

Ugh.. I'm kinda disappointed.
Belle's blue outfit & haircut looks awful, the concept art was so much better and was true to the original outfit.
The beast looks too humane and friendly, the whole point of the movie is "i'm hideous, she is never going to love me" - i dont get that vibe from him. He doesnt look hideous
What have they done to Lumiere?
Belle's yellow dress looks too simple and where are the gloves?
And before you say "Belle is a simple woman thus she is wearing a simple dress"
In the movie she was a simple woman yet wore a fancy dress, it has nothing to do with her being a simple woman

"They became the king and the queen of Gotham City, and God help anyone who disrespected the queen"

reply

The dress will certainly have it's magical moments in motion. According to the article the dress is a gift from La Garderobe in the movie, and as a final touch it is showered with leaf gold that descends on Belle from a Rococco mural from the ceiling. Just imagine that, Belle spinning around and leaf gold raining down on her making the dress sparkle and shine as she moves through the light as if it was made of gold...

I liked all of it except Belle's ball gown. Love the pics of her in the blue dress with the Beast, the castle interiors look great and Gaston in the tavern looks good.

reply

Lumière and Ms Potts are quite odd... He's just a humanoid and she's the size of Chip, compared to the others. Cogsworth looks interesting though. The sets are beautiful too, sooo detailed and fantastical!

reply

Meh, not feeling the Beast all that much. He just looks kinda fake and cheap-looking. I can't place my finger on it but he just doesn't do it for me right now.
