I know the actor is Italian but it's not the skin tone that does it for me, it's the facial structure.

Either he's adopted or someone had an affair with the pool boy.

Came here to see if he was and saw he's Italian! We just started season 2 and I said to my wife he looks Indian and she said oh definitely.

Indians are classified as Caucasian so it's probably the skin tone that's skewing your views. Rudolph Valentino to me looks very French or Welsh/Celtic but to 1920s America, he looked Indian/Arab/Other. He was also very tanned.
