Musketeers = biker leather fetishists. Hollywood crap

I don't understand this leather fetish that Hollywood and all historical series production design is going throuh. Makes everything look unrealistic and fantasy-like. The period had a fashion that is well documented in paintings from the era, why not follow it? Musketeers would have worn bright and colorful clothes, sashes and uniforms, not drab 'studded leather'.

I get that general audiences don't care or notice, but as someone who study the 17th-18th century a bit more; its really annoying.

The BBC isn't Hollywood first of all. Second we've seen the blue poncho dozens of times so why not do something different this time around in a work of fiction? It's not a documentary.

...and you don't think the people who work in BBC procutions don't watch or aren't influenced by Hollywood trends? There's much more interesting things to be done about a historical series than introducing fantasy armor.

Ornate armor and clothing have been around forever, why does it have to be considered fantasy?
