Loved the ending except for the Athos & Sylvie hook up

I like Sylvie, but after the ending of the previous season with Athos running after HIS Ann, I really felt cheated with his ending up with Sylvie.

I didn't buy them at all or his ADIEU to Milady.

And don't even get me started with how they had Mildady return & end. 

I had season 3 on pre-order from AMAZON before watching it on YOUTUBE. Cancelled it.

Don't f@ck with me fellas! This aint my first time at the rodeo.

I think they chickened out a bit on the ending. The problem is they made Milady a lot more sympathetic than she is in the books (where she's pure evil - she actually murders Constance) and played up her romance with Athos so much that by the end of the last series it was hard not to root for them! I liked Sylvie, but I found her and Athos quite underwhelming as a couple. Mind you, the books (as a series) don't have the most satisfying end from what I remember, so I wasn't entirely surprised.

Agreed. I didn't like the Athos/Sylvie ending. No disrespect to the actress, but she came over as more of a servant than a potential wife.
I would of much preferred it if he had been reunited with Minon. They had REAl chemistry between them.
And what exactly were they going to do?? Bum around France for a year? Living on what?

Also the random Porthos/can't remember her name woman. He married her because????
So she could have his pension if he died?? He'd only ever met her once.

Bringing M'Lady back was a S..t move. Total waste of time.

I liked Sylvie. Felt she & Athos had real chemistry between them. And it was nice to see this version of Athos actually find love, as opposed to other incarnations of Athos.

I really wish they had kept Milady closer to the books, killing Constance 'n all, then having the Musketeers be her judge, jury & executioner I didn't like how sympathetic they made her. She loses her edge & becomes another baddie that just happens to become good, as too many shows nowadays does.

This 3rd season really wasn't as good as the past two. The writing suffered.

I would agree with that and would be happy for him if he was honest with Sylvie- I don't think he ever told her about his past or the fact he tried to choke his wife and I don't think Sylvie would accept that lightly- but the writers cowardly never explored this line on the show, which is not fair neither to Sylvie,or Athos, and even to Milady. They made him into a really big *beep* at that point, when he put his hands on her throat - especially after rescuing Milady in s2 from being hanged and saw the look on her face when he cut her down - he would know not to go for her neck.

I like my shows complex . I’m doomed to like dark/ grey characters ,so I liked Milady- maybe the fact she is not like in the book took her ages, but added layers to her character and made her a lot more complex than she is in the book, from my POV. And let's face it- Athos has his dark/grey side too, he is not completely innocent. If Milady end the same way like in the book,it will be too predictable from my POv and because of that boring.

In general, I agree with the replies above- I understand the fact some viewers may not like the character of Milady, but for writers to erase the all S2 redemption ark …not fair to these, who liked not necessary the romance, but the way this exact story is handled ( on this show it was better than in the Duma’s novel, from my POV) The all resolve of Milady/Athos story seemed like a lazy writing to me.Like a friend of mine said : Instead of acknowledging the flaws in both Athos and Milady characters, they tried to whitewash him by giving him an innocent girl he could be good to, so as to try and cover up all of the darkness we saw in his previous characterization."

Doctor Who: Human beings. You always manage to find the boring alternative, don't you?

Yeah, I just finished watching Season 3 of The Musketeers (actually I binge-watched the whole series in under a week - Woot! Netflix kept shaming me with the "Are you *still* watching this show?" prompt! "Yes! I'm still watching - and loving it! So sod off!") and I was suuuuuper disappointed with how Athos' story ended.😞
One of the main reasons I found his character so compelling was the tortured love/hate relationship he had with Milady de Winter (I love those kinds of love stories, like Wuthering Heights' Heathcliffe and Cathy) - plus Tom and Maimie had *amazing* chemistry!💏
Sylvie (through no fault of the actress really) was just so plain and normal and nice and kinda felt like a Constance 2.0 most times, and I didn't buy their romance at all, unfortunately. 😕
I was all-in for Athos/Milady de Winter (especially as they left it as a cliffhanger from Season 2 with her waiting at the crossroads for him) and was *so* confused as each episode went by and *still* she hadn't shown up yet!
Then I read that the actress who played Milady (Maimie McCoy) was apparently super pregnant at the time of the filming of the earlier episodes for Season 3.
Darn!😦
I mean, I'm happy for her that she had a baby and all, but sad that she wasn't able to be in the show more and make things more interesting and lively (and make Athos all hot and tortured! Ohh angst!Athos, how I love thee!)😍
Who knows what the writers had maybe *originally* planned for her character before they knew that she would be unavailable.😥
Oh well - overall I think it was a pretty good show.
I definitely had fun watching it!
Season 3 admittedly, wasn't nearly as good as the first 2 seasons though.
Besides the aforementioned complete lack of my favorite couple (well except that one paltry reunion scene), I didn't find the new bad guys to be very compelling either (Rupert Everett's character was kind of interesting (I was like, "A crippled, frail bad guy? That's certainly different!" - but then he got killed off mid-season! Arg! The other guy, Grimaud, was duuuull...just so boring! He was always the same and seemed to be sleepwalking most of the time.)
The ending felt pretty rushed - I guess they got wind that the show wasn't continuing after Season 3, so they had to give everyone their 'happy ending' so to speak. (Also didn't buy the random girl that Porthos married only to abandon right away and go off to fight battles - Whaaa? Terrible!)
I was really only satisfied with Aramis' story and how he took over the minister position that Treville had previously held and got to be (sorta) with the Queen and his son. Yay!😘
Theirs was a compelling (and kinda tragic) love story too, so I naturally was all for it! 😉
And happy that D'Artagnan got to be the new Captain of the Musketeers (though I suspect that he probably quit a few days later cuz he quickly realized that it wasn't any fun being a Musketeer without his 'brothers'! Haha!)😜
All for one and one for all! 😄

Anne and Aramis reuniting was beyond ridiculous. Made their characters both repulsive. She has got to be the most selfish person in the world. Immediately breaking her all promises to Louis and risking more gossip and suspicion surrounding her son. Risking another pregnancy and more disgrace. Aramis putting her in that position.
