The Crazy Ones Cancelled

I can't believe that The Crazy Ones has been cancelled. Robin Williams, Sarah Michelle Gellar and the rest of the cast had great chemistry and were always cracking me up. I am really stumped at how this show is now cancelled. It was the number one rated sitcom with over 15 million viewers! I have a couple theories as to what went wrong: first, the scheduling was hectic. There were a lot of hiatuses and no date as to when new episodes would return so many viewers either gave up or just stuck to DVR'ing it in hopes of new episodes. Second, I find it ironic that Mom was renewed over The Crazy Ones. I admit I watched both but somewhere along the line I gave up on Mom (it was hard because I like Ana Farris) because it really tried too hard to be funny and usually missed the mark whereas The Crazy Ones made me laugh effortlessly. So, back to my point, why was Mom--a show that really didn't do much better than The Crazy Ones--renewed and not The Crazy Ones? I feel it's a bit of favortism on CBS' part. Come on, we all know they're in debt to Chuck Lorre for the shows he's given them so naturally they're going to choose his side over anyone else. Third, I think the Thursday timeslot kind of hurt too...especially going up against Scandal in some markets. That's not fair. And, finally, I feel the marketing of the show steadily declined. At first CBS was marketing the show remarkably but then they stopped. It was rare to see an advertisement yet I'd always see ones for Mom and The Millers (both ironically renewed). I'm very saddened to see this hilarious show with one of the most phenomenal casts on TV today bite the dust, it had SO much potential. Those are my thoughts and opinions. What do you think? Agree or disagree?

I'm gonna miss the Crappy Ones, that's for damn sure! So unintentionally funny! It should have been called Ringer 2 it was so hilariously awful! I knew it was doomed LONG before it even aired and all the shills here know it.

Heh, at least I have that to console me as I come to terms with the fact that it might be YEARS or even NEVER until Gellar gives us another awful "show" to chuckle at. Really, screwing up is her only talent.

Phylot, I don't want to be rude or anything but what's your deal? You clearly don't care for Sarah Michelle Gellar, but why? And, if you can't stand her (though I don't know how anyone could dislike her), why bother watching her show and commenting repeatedly on different posts about it? Do you have nothing better to do? Surely you could be doing something more productive. So, stop hating and move on.

Why the crying,Rod??? Didn't you knew this was a expensive risk going in,BTW???

Here Here :) I find it hard not to like her, even when she's in sub par stuff.Sad this was cancelled and Mom wasn't.I've complained about Mom and its laugh track elsewere..Argh

I don't think it's called crying as much as venting. But yes, obviously The Crazy Ones definitely was a big-budget show. I'm sure shows like Mom cost a lot less to produce but even still CBS could afford to keep The Crazy Ones. I think they personally made a mistake.

Now you're replying to yourself? How damn deluded are YOU, shill! Bwhahahahaha, you dorks are even funnier than the hack!

Wow, I don't even know why I'm dignifying you with a response but I just have to say that you sound very ignorant and pathetic. Get a life, dude. Trolling is pretty immature.

I really don't care if you liked the show or not cause it's your opinion and your entitled to it but I don't care to listen to your argument because it's childish, immature and rude. If you're going to express your opinion do so respectfully. Have a good life, dude.

reply

Just put phylot on ignore and get on with your life like the rest of us did after episode 1 aired. As a bonus, you won't even see the threads that he/she/it starts.

Eat it, shills!

I didn't even know there was an ignore. That's brilliant. Thanks for the tip!

I really hope this doesn't get cancelled. I think it has a lot of potential.

reply

It's not an argument or opinion, shill, it's the TRUTH! Fact: the Crappy Ones failed! Fact: I called it from the start! Fact: all the shills hate me for being right!

And nobody is entitled to an opinion. People are entitled to an INFORMED opinion. Nobody is entitled to be ignorant. I dealt in facts while shills did not. That's why I won and they ATE it!

Is it actually cancelled yet?

reply

There has not been an official word on a cancellation. After reading this, I searched through Google news. There was nothing about a cancellation.

Aero is right folks. CBS has not decided if their cancelling yet. If they had tonight's episode would not have been labeled Season Finale.

If it was already cancelled they would have labeled tonight's episode as Series Finale.

Which means CBS has likely not made a decision on yet.

I agree. I don't think they have made a decision. However,

if they did cancel the show, they wrapped up a few loose ends in that last episode with the appearance of Syd's mom Paige, the company was not sold, and Sydney kissed Andrew.

It just urks me how good shows like this always gets cancelled and *beep* like honey boo boo gets renewed for multiple seasons.

reply

That's because crap like that is really cheap to make and there's always an audience for it.
Honestly, I think The Crazy Ones should have been an NBC show. They seem to care a lot less about ratings than CBS and are also less inclined to cater to the lowest common denominator when it comes to comedy.

That USED to be true about NBC. Its best comedies, Community and Parks and Rec, just finished airing their 5th and 6th seasons, respectively. None of the newer comedies they've put out in recent years have been any good.

It's sad to think that a network that used to have The Office, 30 Rock, Community, and Parks and Rec on at the same time can't give us anything good comedy-wise anymore. Then again, this is also the network that didn't realize how amazing Friday Night Lights was.

reply

I'm almost certain that neither Community, nor Parks and Rec for that matter, would have made past their first or second season on CBS with their ratings. 30 Rock wasn't a huge success with the crowds either but it still got to 7 seasons.
Some of the new shows on NBC may be awful, true, but that doesn't take away anything from the fact that as a rule they show a willingness to take chances and to stick with shows that are well-written, funny and smart, even if that means they're not huge money-makers.

NBC Ratings are the worst for Thursday, the only reason any of their shows lasted past one season is all the other shows they tried had even worst ratings. If you look at the numbers Community, Parks, 30 Rock, those ratings are not stellar at all,Community gets destroyed by Big Bang Theory, but NBC has nothing to offer, so they stick with anything that can get any kind of ratings.

If this is true, then i'm not surprised. This show lacks stronger material. Just about every episode just feels like one failed experiment after another, while the comedy isn't good enough back-up. At this point, i've been watching, just for Sarah Michelle Gellar and Robin Williams, while the rest of the cast just happens to be there. They all seem to be having fun, but only as associates. They're not unified enough to give the name of their show some real meaning, at least until the bloopers are shown anyway. Overall, the two leads have been the only ones holding the cast together, and now there may be no changes made, due to cancellation. How unfortunate, after the ending to tonight's episode.

reply

What I don't get is how they could cancel The Crazy Ones and renew The Goldbergs. That show is truly heinous.

reply

Nope the Goldberg's is great

reply

I am rather disappointed about the cancellation since I liked the show,

reply

It hasn't been announced that it's cancelled yet...

Shows with lame laugh track one-liners survive.

2 Broke Girls is easy on the brain and the two stars work well together but the laughs are cheap. One actor's job is to turn around, speak with an Eastern European accent and make sure that he says "penis" at least once every episode.

At least The Crazy Ones' jokes were better written and/or delivered.

The "lame children's charity" line from the St. Patrick's Day show was funny as hell.

reply

TCO is a lot of talent going nowhere. It gets about two chuckles out of me per episode. Someone asks why Honey Boo Boo stays on the air. Because it costs about 50 cents an episode to produce. This one has a pretty expensive cast. On paper it should have worked well. I think Robin Williams as an anchor worked more to drag it down than to hold it in place

I was also a bit offended at Robin Williams blatant "as rare as a pro-choice Republican." Ha ha ha How original. Never heard that one before. I think this show will go on his resume as the series that shouldn't have been made. I also question his choice of drug/alcohol jokes. He probably heard them at 12 step meetings where the crowd was "laughing with" the person saying them. Those jokes don't play the same with the "laughing at" audience. "Hey, I really messed up my child's life with all that drug use, ha ha ha." Those stories need to be told with a touch of humility for the aftermath, and that just didn't show here.

Tim Allen's "Last Man Standing" is so much better. Everything works there, the material, the timing, the cast.
