Seriously, almost every time they swear, the word they actually say is "puta." Specifically, I know it is used for both *beep* and "bitch." A direct translation according to google is whore/prostitute. Does it mean all of these things, or is Netflix just playing fast and loose with the translations?
shareLiving in Texas where there are a lot of people of Mexican descent I hear the word "chinga" a lot. I guess in Colombia "puta" is a more common all-purpose expletive. I knew that one already but I had never heard, for example, "es la puta verdad."
shareThere are tons but if they're used to a specific mindset of words it's not really "cursing" but a way to refer to others (friends, etc) whom they work with or socialise.
Just because you hear the word "marica" doesn't mean the word being said to the person is homophobic, it's an interchangeable word. Like guy can mean anyone than a male human being. Or "fúck off" / "go kill yourself" can also mean "stop bothering me". Don't take words too literally.

Attacking someone's mother is the WORSE insult in South America.
"Hijo the Puta" is a LOT stronger than "Son of a Bitch" ... It is more like Son of a Whore ...
But in a Matriarcal society as are all Latin Countries... going after someone's mother is the best/worst insult.
As a kid I would say: "Attack ME... But leave my mother alone!!!"
Hard to expect mostly uneducated people have a vast vocabulary even if they are swear words😁
