S4 triumphant return to form after substandard S3

S3 was so poor I thought it might be time to call it a day. Ep 1 - far-fetched and silly, start to finish. Ep 2 - the worst ever Endeavour, hackneyed, drama-by-numbers stuff, and I rather think it had already been done with Inspector Frost. Ep 3 - a tiger roaming around Oxford? Do me a favour! Ep 4 - much the best but one episode can't redeem a whole season.

Season 4 has been fantastic though, culminating in a finale which personally I found the best episode ever. Roll on Season 5!

Totally agree with your comparison of S4 against S3. Series 4 was high quality throughout but I thought Ep4 the weakest of a very strong bunch. I thought Ep 2 and 3 the strongest episodes. Even the original Inspector Morse had weaker episodes, they weren't all classics like Second Time Around and Infernal Serpent.

It will be hard for Russell Lewis to match the heights of the Endeavour pilot and Neverland but series 4 fills me with confidence looking forwards to the 6 episodes of series 5. Fred Thursday is irreplaceable even if it does mean the series will not move on much time wise. I can still see much of the John Thaw character in Shaun Evans' performance but Strange is a different mattter entirely, Sgt Strange in Endeavour could not be further removed from superintendent Strange in IM, I know people can change but that much?

When young Morse helped out Joan in her distress by producing two big blue fivers from the tin on his desk. Surely the thief that turned over his house would've found them. He wouldn't have been so lax as to keep money lying round so soon afterwards.

The "thief" probably wasn't looking for money. It seemed to be more a harassment, or a message.

Awesome news, thanks.
