Viola Davis Voting Fraud is wrong Academy

If the Academy votes for Viola Davis for best supporting actress then it is form of CATEGORY FRAUD. It also shows how little faith the studio has in Viola Davis. She is a powerhouse actress and did an excellent job in Fences. BUT is the studio saying Davis is not good enough to be a best actress nominee? Or the studio does not think Viola can win best actress? It shows how little faith the studio has in Davis. Yes, people will say Alicia Vikander won last year for the Danish Girl. But it is WRONG to do this. If any Academy member reads IMDB please VOTE put Viola Davis in the BEST ACTRESS category NOT the supporting actress category. Davis is the female lead has so much screentime. I feel this is so UNFAIR to the rest of the women in the supporting category. Why sould someone who is so famous take a spot from another deserving actress? It makes no sense and it is wrong. Yeah, Viola Davis wants an Oscar well boo hoo to her LOL! Lots of actresses want an Oscar but don't get it. Helen Hunt tried this go to the supporting category despite being the female lead in the movie The Sessions but LOST. I sincerely hope the Academy makes the RIGHT DECISION and vote for Viola Davis put her in the best actress category. It is about the integrity of the Academy is at stake. Studios should not be allowed to play voter fraud just because they think another category they can win in. It isn't right. I know I am just one person but I know other people agree with me.

You fail to grasp what Supporting Actor means. This movie is about Troy. Denzel is a Lead Role. Viola's character is there as an adjunct to his role. She exists only because he does. This is exactly what a supporting role is. It has nothing to do with time on screen though usually supporting roles have less screen time.
Think Lone Ranger and Tonto.

Great point Franny25. The lead actor is the focus of a movie. Usually the lead does most of the heavy lifting as far as acting in the majority of the film and the other characters are typically reacting to the lead.

Amy Adams in Arrival and Natalie Portman in Jackie are examples of lead actor roles, because they were the focus and basically carried those films. Viola Davis gave such a great performance, the op thinks she should be in the female lead actor category but it does not work that way. She is an amazing talent, to have made such an impact with the few moments she had going toe to toe with Denzel W.

There is no such thing as voter fraud. Op you do not want Viola to win and that is your prerogative. This voter fraud argument is silly and makes you appear weak. Go back to the drawing board and come up with a better argument.

mg_solo, exactly! You said it better than I did. Viola understands this as do most actors.

I will truly miss these message boards. Damn IMDB for caring more about money than the wealth of information and healthy discussions held by the boards at the individual entries. Personally I'm not really upset about the general message boards disappearing.

Why do you know more than Viola Davis or the studio? Good luck on trying to change the voting and nominations procedures against those who are there on the ground.

It's kind of ironic everyone is blaming the academy when viola herself submitted herself for supporting actress. She knew she'd have a better chance of winning because the lead actress category is so strong. So if you wanna yell at someone, yell at viola.

I don't buy that for a second. Viola understands the real meaning of the Supporting category and rightfully acknowledged the nature of her role, that of Supporting Actress.

I think she would probably win either way quite frankly.
