On Friday, August 10th of 2018, The Hollywood Reporter broke the scoop that both Chris Hemsworth, and worse yet, Captain Kirk himself, Chris Pine, had walked away from the negotiation table, putting Star Trek 4 in peril. And they may not be the last to go.

Rather than merely a bargaining tactic, this is symptomatic of the troubled production history the Kelvin Timeline Star Trek films have endured, despite their arguably strong start in 2009.

In this video, we will take a brief look back at that production history, why the future of the Kelvin Timeline started looking uncertain following Star Trek Beyond, the planned Star Trek 4, why Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth dropped out of it, and finally, the rumored Quentin Tarantino directed Star Trek movie.

I just watched this yesterday.
It's over really isnt it? Kirk was to meet his father in the next film, without Pine and Hemsworth that won't happen. Different actors wouldn't have the draw. Anton Yelchin is dead too.
Time to give up.
Beyond wasn't that good imo.

On August 10th of 2018, The Hollywood Reporter broke the scoop that both Chris Hemsworth, and worse yet, Chris Pine, Captain Kirk himself, had dropped out of Star Trek 4.

Despite some news articles and editorials claiming that Star Trek doesn’t need Kirk, there has been no outwardly progress on Star Trek 4 since then.

In this video, we will recap events that caused Hemsworth and Pine to drop out, the news updates since, and finally, reveal what has transpired behind the scenes, and the current status of the movie.

Just as well. I never cared for the cast of those pictures.

The Real Reasons Star Trek 4 was Cancelled, and where does the franchise go next?

On January 8th, it emerged that Star Trek 4 had been “shelved” … which is another way of saying that the fourth Star Trek movie is cancelled, and no longer is being pursued. For all intents and purposes, this implies that the Kelvin timeline is over.

I thought the cast was fine.

The scripts were a kind of weak, especially Into Darkness.
