This movie was a mess.

This movie I feel was a real mess, it had an interesting concept and had you gripped with the mystery of what was going on, but it left huge elements of the story totally unexplained and open ended. It felt like we where watching a sequel to another movie where everything had been explained to some extent. As it is like we are being dragged through the story knowing what they where talking about. They also left huge elements just without any further story telling. They seemed to forget about the ranch and the fate of the ranch men who took Alton was not even touched upon. The story was unnecessarily dragged out and what we got at the end was just a mess.

Overall, I hated this movie and had little I liked about it. It was executed poorly and I would give it a 3/10 because of this.

Because of the ending, I think they set this up to have an actual sequel - But I somewhat doubt it will materialize after this movie.

(to the original poster Chris)

Ahh really, I thought that this film was amazing! I work as a compositor and the special effects were very nice (in my oppinion for what it's worth). The story captivated me from the beginning right until the end!

It's always interesting reading different reviews and opinions, film is such a subjective medium. :)

Yes indeed.

Totally agree. I thought the story had lots of potential to make a great movie but they wasted it here.

It was extremely predictable and unoriginal with horrible pacing. There was way too much vagueness just for vagueness' sake and not even about the things a writer would normally leave up to the imagination. I think they wrote the whole screenplay with that singular idea in mind. It also failed miserably building suspense.

The last 30 minutes or so were great, but the first hour and a half was terrible. It could have been about 20-25 minutes shorter and would have been much better. It just seemed like they lingered much too long on every single shot of characters staring at each other or staring out of a car window for no other reason than to draw out the mystery even longer. We get it they are exhausted and bored. That aspect was way overdone. The audience is supposed to be able to grasp that concept without feeling the actual boredom themselves. I found myself thinking "Are they ever going to cut away from this shot?" over and over and over.

6/10 at best.

Yea, it was pretty bad. One of the most boring movies I have seen in a while, and with some of the worst, most pointless dialogue. Also they used the same cheesy CGI trick over and over with the flashes of his blue eyes it got old pretty quick, and the writing was so dumb I just did not care anymore. I was about to fall asleep multiple times and had to try to finish watching it like 3 or 4 times just to get through it. Its like someone was dumb enough to give this guy a few million to make the movie...but it turned out horribly mediocre.

Also, when they say stupid things like "hes dying" or something, how would they know that ? They have NO IDEA and the writer just wrote the most stupid dialogue I have seen in a long time from a movie, right up there with Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, 2 of the worst movies that almost made me fall asleep. It had like 5 or 10 good minutes, and some nice cinematography and cool music..for about 10 minutes.
