maybe i'm mispelling it but i've heard this exact word about productions mainly from spielberg and mainly in war/holocaust movies.

which is basically trying to make everything more dramatic, trying to play on the emotions of the viewer too much like by inserting dramatic sad music everywhere. making everyone and everything to look too herohic. make the acting and dialouge flat and full of cliches and so on.

it was prevelent in band of the brothers (especielly in the holocaust episode), the pacific, this abomination and also other movies made by spielberg mainly (the king of shmaltz)
