There was NEVER a reason to make this movie again...

I think some studio exec's are yearning for past when the studio's made great films.
Like, Gone with the Wind, Bridge on the River Kwai, From Here to Eternity and Casablanca
to name a few. This was a colossal waste of $100 million. Certain movies are what they are because of the actors that made that movie.

Heston was perfectly cast for the 59 version. Just like Henry Fonda in Mister Robert's.
Bogie in Casablanca and Maltese Falcon. George C Scott in Patton and Brando in Godfather and On the Waterfront. Some movies cry out for a part 2 or a sequel.

This is not one of them...!!!!

you're entitled to your opinion, and here is mine
I heard about the "Roots" remake and Lavar Burton was felt much the same until the son of the original show's producer said to his father " 'Dad, I get why this is important, but it's like your music: I know that you like it, but it doesn't speak to me,' "

personally I doubt I would ever be motivated enough to watch the original, but this version speaks to me, I was interested enough to go to the theater to see it. and I enjoyed it. so each to their own.

Agreed. There is no one in today's Hollywood that can hold a candle to Charlton Heston, it was pure folly to even attempt it.
