I just don't understand how or why Judah was able to forgive Messala

I'd never ever forgive Messala for what he did.

Sending me to a 5 years slave *beep* and my mom and sister to death.

I'd never forgive him. Never.

I don't understand how could he forgive him.

Just don't. Finished seeing the movie for the first time just now.

I think that's what Jesus helped him with

You could also throw in what morgan freeman was saying

and the fact he beat him in the race

I would never forgive him, with or without Jesus around.

Apart from that, this Ben-hur movie is a good one, I am not comparing it with the version with Charlton Heston (which is better), but still a good one.
