Where did you see March 22nd?

Amazon doesn't have a date yet, and dvdreleasedates.com is estimating May.

That's the release date in Japan. The film opened in Japan earlier than the rest of the world, so maybe they are also getting the dvd/bluray early.

edit: The laser corridor the OP is talking about: https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B01N4WJTJO

edit: Here is a translation of the extras this movie will include (the previous movies won't get any new extras, eg the longer cuts Anderson has talked about for RE1 and RE5):

Disc 8: "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" 2D main disc (about 106 minutes)
<Extras> (total of about 24 minutes)
★ Mila & Anderson director dialogue: Behind the scenes of the series work
★ Weapons and stunt scenes
● Hive Resurrection
● The strongest onna in history
★ Preview video / Evolving "Biohazard: Vendetta"

★ included only on Blu-ray

■ Disc 10: "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" bonus disk (about 20 minutes)
★ Supervise the last chapter
★ Rola Female Warrior Playing Cobalt
★ Saints to sinners
★ Making and Documentary

Gotcha.

How much you wanna bet the U.S. release doesn't get half of that.

No deleted scenes???

reply

Maybe there aren't any significant ones. It's the longest of the 6 films, about 15 minutes longer than each of the previous 2 movies, of this second trilogy.

RE1: 96 minutes
RE2: 89
RE3: 90
RE4: 91
RE5: 92
RE6: 106

The previous films had deleted scenes ranging between 7 and 12 minutes I believe. This movie is already longer than those movies + their deleted scenes, so maybe what's left on the cutting floor this time is only very small pieces here and there that they decided they are not worth releasing.

That box set is too cool. Japan are the masters of packaging, they really are.

reply

Almost $200 for that laser room box set! Yikes! But you get all 6 films though. A part of me really wants to quadruple dip on this. It's definitely a collector's item.

reply

You can probably get them cheaper if you buy them standalone + the 6th. As for the laser room, meh.

The boxset will be worth it if it includes something exclusive to it, such as (optional) extended cuts of some of the films, remasters of the earlier films of the franchise, retrospective commentaries and so on.

I expect home media release to hit around May 16th. Underworld: Blood Wars was released in theaters 21 days before RE:TFC. U:BW is due to be released on home media on April 25th. 21 days later is May 16th. U:BW is also available on digital format April 11th, so RE:TFC may become available on digital formats as early as May 2nd.
Until they actually announce the release date, this is the best guess I have. U:BW home media release was announced Feb 27th...so perhaps next Monday we will get a RE:TFC announcement.
