Why come Anna K?

What was the point of her character in this movie? Was it just to have that funny interaction with increasingly zombified Beth at the diner and have what's his name have another woman to "move on" to at the end? I mean really those scenes and the hiding in the closet scene were the only times she was even in the movie from what I remember. Anyone have any insights?

Well the whole movie felt like a statement about mourning to me. Not saying anything bad just posing the question if people would come back would you really want them to if it meant them being zombies. So I think Anna K's role was for zack to move on with. As regardless if Beth was or was not eating people you get the impression the relationship was not healthy prior to her dying. So I think it was also saying you got to know when to just let things die as a metaphor for bad relationships.

I"m a little confused by your post. Are you saying that Anna is to famous to play such a small part or are you saying the character was unnecessary? If it's the first one then I'm shocked you would say that since most famous actors do cameos or bit roles in movies. If It's the second one then I can see your point however I think it's good they gave him someone to move on to, but yes it wasn't necessary. Oh guess there is a third option, you could like Anna more or at least as much as Aubrey and just wanted to see more of her. She did look great though. Finally a role without a ton of make up. I don't think I've seen her with so little make up before, or at least as natural looking.

i think since the movie is an analogy for a breakup that it was to show his ex-gf getting in the way of a beautiful girl that was a better fit for him.

Yeah I think you're mostly right it was just done very poorly.

She represents moving on and getting over Beth.

I'm still trying to figure out what the part about the money indicated.

Yeah, I wasn't too sure about that. All I could think was maybe it was an example of another character who was becoming a zombie, like the cook in the same scene. Maybe the bus boy came back from the dead and was behaving bizarrely, like giving large amounts of cash to the customers. It really didn't make sense but that's the best I could come up with.

yeah i dont get it either--- they had big names already its not like it was an indie film that needed one bigger name to bring in viewers.... so why not just cast any unknown for such a small role?

Maybe she was involved with the producers and just wanted to play that role.
Maybe she's friends with Aubrey Plaza, they just did another movie together.
Maybe ... she needed the money? (jk)

I don't really know but I thought the quirky, subtle dialog/interaction between her and Zach was hilarious. Also, nice cleavage at the diner ;)
