Great show but overly long monologues?

So I just started this show the other day, and am now on episode 13. Really liking it, haven't seen a good anime like this in some time (and basically no childish elements, woo!), but there are SO many of these monologues that take over each episode. At some very critical points, characters go into this long winded speech which, while relevant, kind of seems impractical at that point in time. Someone is about to be crushed, ripped apart, whatever, and the person about to save them is standing there like, "yes, now is the time to FIGHT! Yes, FIGHT, fightings what we have to do because fighting wins and we have to win because we will die. I'm done letting people die, I don't want to see people die anymore, so i'm going to fight!" (maybe a bit exaggerated ;) )

Again, I am very much loving this show, but at these points I want to give some of those characters a slap back into their reality.

This show tries to be too deep at times with speeches, which is why I give this an 8/10 instead of 9. The one that p.o. me the most is when they took a whole episode, basically a filler, where the military were trying to decide to blast Eren with a cannon for being a monster after it was revealed. That episode was the worst for long winded monologues and pointless speeches. Even more irritating is that it takes the logic and a Braveheart speech from a scrawny teen to point out the obvious to the military that Eren is on their side and a useful ally/tool to be used; I could have wrote this stuff, actually I would've skipped it because it insults all human logic and common sense! Turns the whole last human colony into irritable Horror B movie characters where it makes you want to route for the monster to kill and win. Thankfully that was the only episode I hated out of 25 or 26.

That is just a feature of Anime in general it seems. I dislike it as well, but I'm learning to get used to it.

Yeah, totally agree. Waaaay too long dialogues and monologues.. And sudden rather extreme bursts of anguish for no apparent reason. Like if someone says "hand me my jacket", then they edit to a dramatic closeup of someone else breaking out in sweat making a loud "HUUUUH?!?!??!?!" with a dramatic score underneath. Surely it's partially a cultural thing, but it's way more pronounced here than in similar productions. And while there is a development in the story, the unnatural way of stressing things and the long dialogues and monologues makes it feel like it's longwinded, taking too long to get to the point.

That said the story and those weird Titans are definitely interesting. Season 1: 7/10.

I hate the long speeches too, it drives me nuts, I want to fast forward through them sometimes.
What makes it laughable though, is they're flying through the forest with their omni directional stuff, they're having to fire the grappling? wires off every 4ish seconds, yet when they're doing their long speeches, a minute can go by and they're still flying through the air without (A) looking where they're going and/or (B) not needing to fire the grappling wires

Yes, the inner monologues get out of hand, but it's still an amazing series. I can't wait for season 2 to start!

"Why don't you go back to your home on Whore Island?"

Agreed, I am not a moron, I can read context of the situation and facial expressions, I don't need to have entire thought process being explained to me.
