This film wins the award for most dishonest title ever.

EVERY war is dirty. There is no such thing as a war without widespread misery, destruction of life on large scale, and innocent victim. Every war is cruel and barbaric.

Jeremy Scahill and the millions who think like him either don’t understand this or are willfully ignoring this inconvenient truth.

Historically-speaking, this is one of the “cleaner” wars we have fought, which makes the outrage all the more absurd. From Sherman’s March To The Sea to strategic bombing to Agent Orange to the support of murder squads in Latin America America has a long history of using morally questionable measures to win conflicts. But then the US is only doing what any victorious military has done.

People would be better of reading or taking a class in military history than watching documentaries like this. Documentaries like this, while a beneficial for starting a conversation on war and governmental secrecy, really fail to place into context the decisions being made and why. It’s easy to criticize killing when you have no responsibility for millions of lives, when you have little knowledge of the threats, and when you possess limited knowledge of law enforcement and military capabilities.

If you really want to understand why the US is doing what it is doing than you should read books on radical Islam, military tactics, and American foreign policy by people who are experts in those areas. Jeremy Scahilll is not an expert, but a journalist with an agenda. A simplistic, intrinsically dishonest agenda that is designed to appeal to the American too lazy to actually research the subject of war themselves.

Yes, and you just won the award for the most racist, radical assasin in the World, POSSESED BY THE DEMON HIMSELF to justify one human life over another or just because you say so! To launch a "PRE-VENTIVE" strike upon a "potential enemy"! You should be the President then, not Obama!

There is no such a thing as a CLEAN WAR. Do not use figurative literature in the eyes of concrete events. You cannot put those two words together because there is NOTHING CLEAN (adjective) in front of the word WAR (noun). So, it seems that besides being ignorant, you are also illiterate and cannot speak your own language properly... with all due respect and if I may say so....

Saying something as stupid and childlish as CLEAN WAR is the same to say that peace is achived through war which is also a paradox or even an oxymoron.

oh, there comes a decision. Now, for what you have said, you are MY SWORN ENEMY, SO YOU SHOWD DIE! That radical thinking can only be the work of the Devil or his son: the sith!

There is no EXCUSE for war! there is no excuse for taking a human life! If the USA has REAL ENEMIES, then they should be put off, brought in for peace arrangements, or maybe (in the most sadistic, terrifiyng and unfair of scenarios) be incarcerated (placed in jail) after committing acts of terrorism in US soil.

Now, you speak of war? what war after the US civil war has the USA fought? NONE! The only REAL WAR in the USA has been the Northern States against the Southern States.

WHAT WAR??????
World War 1 = Invasion
World War 2 = Invasion
Korea = Invasion
Vietnam = Invasion
Iraq = Invasion
Afghanistan = Invasion
Terrorists? = 9/11 has not yet been proven 100% it was the work of Osama Bin Laden. WTC towers? Perhaps a group of radical Islamic individuals.

I have got this weird feeling that the next to be invaded is gonna be me for no apparent reason at all!

There is no WAR against TERRORISM! yet another example of improper use of language. You fight terrorists, you kill terrorists. You cannot fight an idea, you fight people! An idea, a concept cannot fight back at you! Did you ever think that in English there is Subject, a verb and then an object in a sentence? Were you ever thaught in ELEMENTARY SCHOOL that action verbss cannot apply over inanimate objects?

The moment you apply the concept of TERRORISM as a threat, you immediately label EVERY OTHER HUMAN BEING. The THEM over the I, which is the most cynical way of racism! You label the other as the enemy, your brother, your father, your neighbor, even your own mother!

GROW UP for God's sake... even if you were the MOST RESPECTED authority in Terrorism your ideas sound like the work of a twisted saddistic and evil mind!

Throughout your comments, you have sounded pretty coherent and well-informed to me. Nevertheless, every time you throw that "YHWH that" or "the DEMONS this", your arguement falls into pieces. I personally am an atheist, and I cand respect your choice to believe (although in most cases it's hardly a choice, but something culturally inherited), but it just doesn't make any good to your arguement to throw religious stuff in while you're trying to prove a point of view on something like this. Just sayin'.

The tile should be blood money. The military industrial complex with support from their owned politicians and media, made this war and trillions of dollars.

Believe me, not all liberals support egomaniacs like Scahill and Chris Hedges, i'm embarassed to have people like them claiming to respresent and making so many errors and misjudgements in a film like this.

The US, correct me if I'm wrong, haven't had a single war that has been fought on it's territory. The Civil War doesn't count.

So the perspective of the average US citizen on war is sitting in front of the TV and being all patriotic about it. Pretty close to watching a baseball game or a movie for that matter. Completely detached from the realities of such a situation, which makes it extremely easy to make 'objective' statements like 'every war is dirty'.

That said any argument an American is making about warfare is simply laughable. A nation that never endured that widespread misery and death you're talking about can't be a good judge, knowing only one side of the coin.

If your relatives, God forbid, have fallen as 'collateral damage' would you be writing this on an internet forum, saying every war is dirty?

reply

That doesn't excuse killing innocent civilians. Ever. Nothing does. If the best we can do is wantonly and deliberately kill civilians, then we don't belong there.

Many thanks, you nailed it.

This film tried to manipulate our emotions. It looks like it succeeded much too often.

I don't really want to debate this or poop on your victory parade, but....
The fundamental logic you use is just bad, bad psychology.

"Historically-speaking, this is one of the “cleaner” wars we have fought..."
Becoming a more efficient killer is not a reason, in and of itself, to kill.
FALSE - this does not support your claim.

"From Sherman’s March To The Sea to strategic bombing to Agent Orange to the support of murder squads in Latin America America has a long history of using morally questionable measures to win conflicts."
Because one has done something wrong in the past, does not then make the same wrong act acceptable in the future. It does not become "right" or "just" purely out of habit. Prison systems are built with this in mind, to stop repeat offenders, sounds like Law Enforcement 101.
Statement does not support your claim that the war is good or just.

"But then the US is only doing what any victorious military has done."
The UN and popular International opinion both designate as immoral, unjust, and in violation of International Law.

-- Just because the United Nations sits on U.S. soil (so to speak), has its visitors permitted or denied entry to the building (surrounded by U.S. land), based on their "terrorist involvement" and has no power to enforce International Law does not justify the most powerful country on the earth from killing Millions of people, continuously.

Dig a little deeper, outside of your military classes, you might find some light at the end of the tunnel.

Amen. Well said.

People who don't like their beliefs being laughed at shouldn't have such funny beliefs

And then get taken out in a signature drone strike as being a potential terrorist?

It's all complete BS.
