B-Wings

For a more fun topic on this board:

I have noticed in watching the various live action star wars movies that B-wings, introduced in ROTJ, have never fired a shot in the live action series! First off, am I correct on this, and second, does anyone have any thoughts as to why? This has always bugged me!

Bumping my own post! Yay me! Anyone?

No idea. I do recall reading that the B-Wing model shape was such that it caused problems for the people doing the special effects on ROTJ. As a result it was just left out of a lot of the shots of the space battle at the end of the movie.

Off topic but the thing I always found odd about the ship was it's name "B"-Wing. All the other ships up to that point with a letter for a name seemed to in some way indicate their shape. For example, the X-Wing looked like an X, Y-Wing like a Y and A-Wing looked vaguely like an "A" (or at least a triangle). Not so the B-Wing. I'd have probably called it a 't-wing' but, then again, people would probably start calling it a "twing".

I can agree to that. Totally not a B! But I've always liked it enough and appreciated its power... so it has always bugged me that I have never seen it do anything in the movies (I'm a fan, but not enough for most of the animated stuff).
