After seeing this I apreciate Rogue One even more (spoilers)

After the big disapointment that "The last Jedi" was I had a new hope (pun intended) that Disney and J.J. Abrams would make a satisfactory end to the Skywalker saga, but how wrong was I...

Visually its a gem of a movie, but everything else is just average or even below average.

The story is full of plot holes (yeah I know its a sci-fi movie but come on...), and the acting was for me so uninspirational exept for Adam Driver, which I have to say has been the most interesting character of the new trilogy. But it isnt the other actors fault all of it because they hasnt been given enough to work with script wise to build their character through this new trilogy. Everything just feels so f.... shallow.

And to use Mark Hamill only for a few short minutes was for me a cardinal sin. Come on, the character of Luke Skywalker is almost left out completely of the last chapter of the Skywalker saga???
Did Disney do this intentionally to alienate the old fanbase even more? Like the two last movies in the saga hasnt done enough damage?

At least Rogue One felt fresh, the acting was superb, you also really cared for the characters even though you knew beforehand that they were f.... from the beginning of the movie. It also felt like a "real" movie, not a f..... cartoon like most the new trilogy has felt like.
Solo also felt fresh by the way, even though it has some problems.

I really hope that the new saga will be better since they hopefully will start off with a completely new stoyline that has little or nothing to do with the characters of this last trilogy. And also that they look to Rogue One for inspiration for what a "new" Star Wars movie should really be like.

And how cool would it have been if "The Rise of Skywalker" ended with Kylo Ren surviving instead for Rey? Imagine him in the end of the movie when the old lady ask him for his name and he answers "Ben. Ben Skywalker". That would have saved the movie a bit for my part at least. I really felt that his character deserved a better closure than the one that was given, would it be a ending like that he would really have redeemed himself.

What's being a sci-fi movie got to do with having plot holes? You've just made my point for me, thank you.

Glad I could be of help :-)

What I mean is that in the "most pathetic excuses" thread, I said:

"I wouldn't be surprised if some people have said:

"It's Star Wars, it doesn't have to make sense!""

And now you've just proven it :)

Glad I could help you in proving your point also :-)

I agree, it was nothing special was it. I enjoyed it don’t get me wrong and would not have missed it for the world but, well...meh!
