i think perhaps it may have been. at least the premise and the broad strokes.

i liked this film. if you see le professionel you may like it too, but be warned it's dated

What? Dated?

This movie couldn't be further away from what Luc Besson's Le Professionnel is like (you are really serious?) with Natalie Portman's first role and Jean Reno as the hit man? Gary Oldman as a crooked psycho drugged cop?

It credits a book as the film starts, or ends. Cannot remember what it was and didn't enjoy it enough to find out - probably mentioned on IMdB
