why's this rated R????

Seriously! I almost didn't watch it because I usually don't watch R movies(I'm 14) but it seemed really interesting and I read some reviews saying it should be pg-13. So I thought why not? Seriously this is definitely a pg-13 movie. They are movies that are worse than this and are pg-13

The movie was intended to be rated PG-13 but it was only rated R because it was about a gay subject matter which I think is ridiculous :/

Gay characters, and the implication that two gay teens had sex.

It is barely PG-13. It has sexual references, but it isn't dirty enough for an R. At all.

Hail to the king, baby.

Some head-honchos sitting in an office who were born and raised in the 1950s found it too unsettling, and demanded that it be rated R, because boys kissing is "adult material", according to these ridiculous people that work for the censorship boards.

If it was about two teenage boys who wanted to save the world and used guns to kill 500+ people each with blood and gore everywhere it would probably have only got an M. Because people of course are still more comfortable with seeing two guys holding guns than holding each others hands. Pathetic.

It's rated R because the MPAA are a bunch of homophobic bigots. Every time I see the rating on this movie, I just shake my head in disappointment. Both Easy A and Mean Girls had just as much sexual references, and yet those got a PG-13 rating. There's clearly a double standard when it comes to sexual orientation.

This movie was rated R because of the gay. No other reason. I don't think there was even an F-bomb. And there were no sex scenes at all. I watched this with my 4 year old daughter lurking about and it was fine. There was some sexual innuendo, like the "high speed DSL" line, but it went so far over her head that it wasn't even a thing. This movie was barely PG-13 material.

The full rating is "Rated R for sexual references". I also heard a few F-bombs, more than one will get an R.

reply

Idk why you're lying, but there was not one f-bomb. Not a one. The only f-bomb was *beep* boyfriend and I were both baffled by the fact of it being R. I haven't finished the movie yet, but I'll edit my post if it turns out that there's a huge gay orgy at the end. That'll even it out.

Worth mentioning that in UK the film got a 15 certificate allowing everyone over 15 to see the film.

There are still great parts in Hollywood for Meryl Streep's over 60. -- Tina Fey
