Here's what the description says:

Space: The Longest Goodbye
NASA's goal to send astronauts to Mars would require a three-year absence from Earth, during which communication in real time would be impossible due to the immense distance. Meet the psychologists whose job is to keep astronauts mentally stable in outer space, as they are caught between their dream of reaching new frontiers and the basic human need to stay connected to home.

When I was a kid I was a space fanatic and thought I would pay any price to be a Space Pioneer, but going to Mars sounds miserable, no thanks.

It would probably be a multi-national, multi-ethnic project, and if anyone recalls "2010: The Year We Make Contact" do you also recall the national tensions between the crew.

Elon Musk aside because he would for sure never go on a mission like that, who would, and how would a compatible crew be found, and how would they keep from going crazy?
