This Series Has Gotten Good!!!

Pardon the slang but HOT DAMN am I enjoying this season. Without Rhona Mitra I thought I'd hate it but they have won me over.

The shift in tone from basically a survival holocaust show to a political thriller has been near masterful. Love the cast and feel every loss. There's true tension in almost every episode with this latest rescue episode being the best of the season so far.

Yes, early there were some logic flaws but those have been smoothed over and it's been well written over the past three episodes. I really hope this keeps up.

It's become my guilty pleasure as well. I've watched from day one, and in the beginning (and even still) I roll my eyes at some of the hokeyness. But it never gets too-too hokey (for me). I like the move to a political action thriller, as well as a number of the performances. (My wife teases me that I have a man-crush on Captain McDreamy...)

Agree... a guilty pleasure. My hubby doesn't get why I watch shows that are not "real life" when they are a drama. I know he knows I don't think the shows need to be "true real life", just entertaining (even when there are times when I roll my eyes also). Hubby tends to want to watch only comedies. Then I wonder why he watches comedies and yet I almost never hear him laugh at them.

Oh well... we do meet in the middle to enjoy a good thriller or courtroom drama once in a while.

:.:.:.I am sorry I pushed so many of your buttons, I was looking for the mute.:.:.:

Hiroyuki Sanada has got awesome presence even when just standing there and since his character now seems to be looking for a way to atone himself would make a great addition to the regular cast.

At least for the remainder of the season.

How about they install *him* as the Chinese leader after they take out Peng?

reply

that would be awful since he's Japanese.

reply

Yeah. I doubt the other Chinese would accept *that* would they.

okay, just make him critical to the plot some other way.

reply

I still want the Doc back for the next season.

reply

OK, I'm only four in but I'm glad it doesn't stay "survival holocaust" the entire time.

reply

Actually, I went the other way. Season three dragged so much with (to me) stupid Deus ex machina stuff that about halfway through I gave up and stopped watching.

Always just missing the hostages, always just missing everything they need, well, that's just the showrunners forcing a plot along- the first two seasons that wasn't necessary- it was self-perpetuating.
