Sumburgh lighthouse hotel and other locations

I just finished watching Season 3 a few minutes ago.
I wasn't aware that the lighthouse now had a cottage for rent.
That would definitely be an interesting place to spend a night or two.
You would definitely be out by yourself, with the occasional plane flying by and some tourists dropping by.

So, my question, did they use the Sumburgh hotel as the location for the retirement home? It sure looked like the parking lot and entrance to me, along with occasional views towards Jarlshof.
But, it has been a few years, so I'm not quite sure.

Also, was that Scalloway castle where Sandy was attacked? It seemed right to me, but I can't be sure that there isn't another ruin in the Shetlands that I haven't visited.

Yes -

Sumburgh hotel as the location for the retirement home?

That's exactly what we thought, we stopped there two years ago and I spotted it straight away....

Ditto the Lighthouse which was being done up the last time we visited.

Can't wait to go back

I wish there were location details for this series. Some of the scenic images from this look stunning.

I think I will sample some episodes from series 3 to begin with. The earlier series sound more interesting than four and five.
