Love this series but very confused over last nights ending. Why did the man in black kill all the cows and then kill himself?

We don't know yet but I'm sure that we'll find out ...

It was said that the first cow to be killed (the one that John is suspected of killing when "borrowing" the medicine) was stabbed with a "short double-edged weapon" ... wonder if this turns out to be a Zulu Assegai ...

It was blatantly him that killed that first cow. Seems poor Joe wont get a very nice ending either :(

Didn't the Middletons' neighbor Rutter do it? He implied or stated (can't remember which) that John was drunk when he passed Rutter's farm?

Maybe it was the daughter (Carro or whatever her name is) - why was she putting sheets thru the mangle? Were they covered in blood? I find a lot of stuff in this series hard to understand! Still, I enjoy it.

That was their father! Lord Allingham. He was disfigured during the Zulu war, obviously untreated trauma!

It seemed like it was to clear John Middleton of being accused of the cow stabbing.
