Disconnect betwixt season 1 and 2?

I rember starting to enjhoy the story in S1. But then S2 seamed to take off in a completely different story with different charactars & I quit in discussed. Anyone else have this trouble? If persistenced, would the disparate seasons merge and beguine to make sense.

The Neil Maskell character made this change from bad to good guy. That was interesting. We have the chance to find out how and why he became the emotionless killer.
And in the end all puzzles are solved. No, it's more like one season unfortunately devided in two.
