As far as being a booze hound. It was healthier than drinking the well water.

Before he became King his diet was very good mostly meat and fish high amounts of protein.
Once he became king it went down hill and he started to have a lot of gut issues due to change in the diet it's one of the main reasons why people believe he lost the battle which took his life.
