An Actual Documentary or Scripted Movie?

It is labeled as a documentary, however, from the trailer and some reviews it seems like a movie; actors included. YET the cast shows various names and then lists them as ... climbers? Is that because it is a true documentary?

I need some clarification; confused.

reply

It is a mixture of both somewhat akin to another mountaineering film, Touching the Void.

"He killed sixteen Czechoslovakians. Guy was an interior decorator."

reply

it seemed to use actual footage and re-enactments, excellent movie

reply

Yes, it's a real true story with some real footage. The dramatizations and re-enactments were used to give the viewers a sense of being there.

reply

The Interviews are real but most of the mountain scenes are re-enactments.

reply

Did any climbers reenact themselves? They are listed as "climber", but when you go to the actor's pages where it lists this movie, you'll find it under their "Self" subsection.

reply

Definitely scripted - I saw Meg Ryan as one of the climbers.

reply

No, that was Cecilie Skog who was climbing with her husband, Rolf Bae. He was one of the climbers who died on the mountain. But I do agree that she kinda looks like Meg Ryan, though.

She looked a LOT like Meg Ryan.

Hahaha!!! While watching this, I also thought Skog looked like Meg Ryan.

Too funny...especially since one of the replies didn't get the joke.
