6 episodes in, still not sold, should I finish?

I really want to like this series. Counting this time, it makes my 3rd freaking time to give it another shot.
Now I'm 6 episodes into the first season and it kills me to be so frustated with the show until now. Even Walking Dead is not as frustrating. So are the following 4 episodes worth my time? Especially with 2nd Season daredevil out...

possible ***Spoilers***

And anyoneelse feeling the same?
I mean sometimes the story feels like a bad soap opera. The big drama concerning Jessica and Cage is just *beep* stupid. It would have been so much more easier if she just told him everything about Killgrave and his former wife. They would fight together, trash him and then get to more literally *beep*
This "plan" of theirs to kidnapp Killgrave in episode 5 was just ludicrous. Isn't it the first thing to check for some kind of tracker? Killgrave isn't stupid. And then she get's hold in check by a couple of guys with tasers? Comeon, a couple minutes before she threw two gorillas like a basketball through the air and now she can't even defend herself against them. This is just poor screenwriting.
And I can't even remember why I had to stop and take week long breaks after 2nd and 4th episode.

I still managed to watch the entire season with a lot of force, I really didn't like it. The writing is really poor, I won't be returning for season 2.

Also her "powers" are very inconsistent, like you already said she got knocked down by a bunch guys with tasers. Or sometimes she got instantly knocked out by someone with a wooden bar, like the crazy religious girl.

I mean look at Daredevil, he has no powers but in a lot of episodes he receives quite the beating but still manages to stand up and fight. JJ whom has super powers isn't as durable , which is either bad writing or she simply sucks.

Keep watching. It reaches its peak around episode 8 or 9, if I'm not mistaken.

reply

LOL I stopped watching and asked the SAME QUESTION.

You know just because benge watching is trendy doesn't mean its a good idea.

I waited 2 weeks and came back rewatched episode 6 and continued watching.

Its gets a lot better. Even rosario Dawson from DareDevil makes an awesome cameo!

If you stare at something long enough it loses all meaning.

Wait a week or 2 and came back watch the last episode you finished watching

NOT THE ONE YOU QUIT ON. THE LAST ONE YOU FINISHED.

Then watch one more episode then if you still don't like it quit.

Seriously i was gonna quit at episode 6 too. LOL

Looks like you are not the only one who felt this way. That 'Taser fight' thing, felt damn stupid to me.
Somewhere in reviews a guy said that he found this show better than Daredevil. That one comment made me curious about the show, but I'm almost half way down to the show and still can't find the reason for that why would someone put such a stupid comment. It's not worth comparing with DareDevil.
Just finished DD Season 2, so disappointment is on a higher level with JJ.

The shows are very different styles. It's pretty easy to see that some people might like one over the other.

Reading my signature constitutes admission that I am correct. (Too late)

I'm not sure why you've pushed yourself to watch it. You clearly don't like it. I don't think you'll enjoy it if you've hated it this much up to episode 6. There are a few later episodes where Cage is absent (and the relationship isn't mentioned) but that's pretty much your only upside.

I have no idea why people force themselves to sit through things they dislike so much. It's just a show. It's not life and death. Take a deep breath and move on.

reply

Not every TV series has a strong start, watching a handful of episodes or so to see where it's going and whether it's to your liking seems fairly sensible.

As for your second paragraph, really no idea where that's come from.

reply

...I would say move on. I'm guessing that a lot of fans of the traditional superhero genre are going to find this not to their taste. The fact that they brought Tennant in to play Jessica's nemesis would indicate to me that they're aiming for a NuWho demographic, which is more diverse (including more female) than is usual for the genre.

I am watching 6th episode right now but this hasn't been as exciting as I was hoping. With mediocre second season of daredevil and this, Marvel has not gotten off to a good start this year.

reply

This was last year.

Agree, it's boring, show with a lot of potential but doesn't make it. Because of the potential you keep watching but are disappointed constantly.
