Sure. Problem is, despite all the terrible things he's done, I doubt even Jessica would as far as cutting his tongue out. And even if she - or anybody else - did it, it would make things easier, and naturally you can't have that happen. And also, the show would be a lot shorter (which I'm sure plenty of people wouldn't mind).
I did expect something like that was going to happen at the end, though.
Exactly! I mean, if all you have to do is just put on headphones to render his powers useless, then cut his tongue out and save all the people he was going to manipulate into murder and suicide.
I wanted so badly to like this show, but it was just too easy to nullify the main villain’s powers. I kept thinking that JJ had already tried the headphones method (but the show was neglecting to let us know that as part of the back story), so when they pulled that out at the end I was really disappointed. There were other things that I didn’t care for, but that was the nail in the coffin.
Headphones aren't a guarantee. You'd have to get close to him to rip his tounge out, so all he'd have to do is get one partially off enough to hear what he's saying.
Plus he always had contingencies. Jessica didn't want him to ever hurt the people around her, so unless you catch him in a private place, he's just going to shout for everyone to kill themselves.
Also, her whole goal was to PROVE he had mind control to get Hope freed. If she rips out his tounge, Hope stays in prison for the rest of her life.
