Identical to the Jason Bourne triology

A very good Korean version of the Bourne series. Many identical elements but with a better supporting actress. Jeon Ji-Hyun (Gianna Jun) did an excellent job with her subtle expressions and deeply emotional dramatic acting chops. She also gave a memorable performance in "Daisy", another good Korean spy movie (2006).

The story is completely different from the Bourne series. You seem to be under the impression that the Bourne series invented the "spy genre". It's a literature and film genre that deals with espionage and has existed decades before the Bourne series. This is what "The Berlin File" is. It's a spy genre film. The Bourne series did not invent the spy film.

That's so true----this film is a really damn good action-packed gritty spy drama, but it's nothing like the Bourne trilogy, and it's not even a rip-off of it or anything. It's currently streaming on Netflix for anyone who wants to check it out.

Other than the style of fights, how is this anything similar to the Bourne series?

reply

Besides The Berlin File being a spy film, it's nothing like the Bourne trilogy---it' a completely different film in it's own right.

Many identical elements

Yeah, like "people fighting" and "spies". Almost a direct copy, I almost couldn't tell the difference.

reply

Sure the Bourne films raised the action bar, though I'd have to say the Berlin file has set the new benchmark for spy thrillers
