Deliberately ugly?

I mean the sisters. Not one looker among them. Still i enjoyed the 1st eppy. Made me laugh a few times.

reply

probably.
they are also British though.

reply

No they're irish actually.

reply

*beep*, I can't beleive I called them British :D

reply

Deliberately ugly? More like deliberately normal, which is just fantastic, honestly.

I may not be able to prove that God is real, but you cannot prove that God is imaginary.

reply

@hubble-hallow: I think they look like regular people, which is infinitely more realistic. Not everybody can be Hollywood-brand fake perfect OR as shallow as you must be.

I happen to think the mom (Deirdre O'Kane) and Clare Monnelly as Fidelma are both really attractive. Not to mention the accents. I can fall in love with an accent.

AND by the way, Sarah White, as Sinead, is only a kid, you dirty old man!

reply

Clare Monnelly as Fidelma

She is gorgeous both in the show and in real life. I was so happy to find out she was in her mid to late 20's when they filmed. Made me feel slightly less creepy.

reply

I don't find the boy all that cute either.

reply

why do a bunch of teenagers need to be attractive to you?

reply

haha that's a good question. I don't need actors to look good, I need them to be good actors. Further, when characters are too good looking (like on all US shows) it detracts from the story.

That's what makes this show so good. They focus on the characters and story.

reply

It detracts from the story and can be an overall distraction. Any ensemble cast, where the actors are all young, invariably they're ALL going to be above-average in attractiveness. A person doesn't have to be a "10" for me to like them, or even like the looks of them. Variety. Variety is the spice of life.
