Is there a worse sub genre than found footage horror?

Here's my picks for worse:
Spoof (died after not another teen movie)
Video game adaptations (unfortunately )
Basketball sports films (blue chips ...I guess)
Horse films (boring as all hell)
Talking animal films (babe was good)
Teen romance (pretty bad)
Prequels
New Year's Eve themed
Erotic drama or thrillers
Dance (these always suck)

The problem with found footage films is that they're quite restrictive. Because;

a) There has to be a reason for a person to be carrying a camera the whole time. So it's almost always about somebody making a documentary of some kind.
b) You know how it's going to end, because by definition the footage is supposed to have been found after everybody died. This makes it hard to root for the heroes, when you know they won't make it.

The Gallows did, at least, try to do something unusual with the second point. You can argue whether that worked though, and I suspect most people will argue that it didn't.

My problem is that this film has the bare bones of a decent idea there, so it's beyond me why they had to turd it up by make it found footage.

There's no such thing as a bad genre or sub-genre. There aren't good ones either. There are good/bad movies, actors, directors, etc.

No it's good cuz it's reel! Those people that look like famous actors is just coincidence!!!1

No. It's the worst.

But it's sort of unfair to call it a genre, I think. It's really just a stylistic gimmick. It doesn't have anything to do with the content, other than the fact that found footage movies tend to employ a handful of safe and easy premises. It can be affixed to any genre or subgenre - which makes it that much worse.

I keep waiting for the gimmick to die, but it's so cost effective that it continues to be popular. I understand why a studio or a filmmaker might choose to go the found footage route, but as an audience member I generally can't stand it.

I despise found footage movies. Sure there may be a decent one here and there but they are mostly all the same. I was interested in watching this until I realized it was found footage. That and the movie sucks.
