Had superior firepower but gave up

SPOILERS

Samuel L Jackson had a paring knife to his wifes neck and the guy has a gun on him. That knife was not very menacing TBH.

Should have just shot him cause his wife likely would have made a full recovery.

Some people who have never handled, let alone fired a gun in their life might(smartly) question their own accuracy. If he was off enough, he would have shot his wife, or missed and Sammy would kill her. Either way it was bad.

If you have no skill/training/knowledge to shoot, not shooting is the best bet.

Personally, I am a sharpshooter and would have shot him right away, but he probably still had the safety on and would have failed epically.

Also, what I understand from sheriff's deputies around where I live is that a gun is no match for a good knife wielder. The deputies are more afraid of knives than they are of guns. Jackson could have had the wife dying before Mitch could have gotten off a shot. Anyway, Mitch seemed badly wounded to me and therefore too shaky to reliably shoot.

You are assuming Mitch was accurate with a gun. Also, "likely would have recovered" may not have been a risk Mitch was willing to take.

It was stupid to give Davis the gun. Because then they're all dead for sure. Realistically, the wife would have tried to duck or struggle and Mitch should have just shot him. Even an amateur can't miss from 2 feet.

That’s the problem.

Unless I have another move planned I’m not giving up my gun to a serial killer.
