They should have submitted this script to Kevin Smith
Kevin Smith seems to be (or at least was) the go-to nerd in Hollywood.
Zero Charisma is a good, but not great movie that explores the sadder side of being an older nerd. I can say that I used to know a few people like Scott and exploring their personality is not a bad idea. We get some insight that Miles is the person that Scott had always wanted to be (to be a nerd while having friends, a lover, and success) and we go into a little depth of his history, but the movie does not tackle into that area enough.
I personally would have loved to see what Kevin Smith would have done with this set up. Past works like Clerks, Mallrats and Chasing Amy prove that he can write geeks well and explore the kind of relationships they would have. He probably would have wanted to rewrite the script himself and put his more personal touches like the use of pot, a deeper insight into Scott's mood swings and anger issues, and something of a definition of generation X nerds and millennial nerds.
Did Zero Charisma seem like Keven Smith's kind of thing? What would have done differently?
