Wrong Choice

I feel like Emily was way out of character in the finale. To just animalistically jump into things with Will and sleep with him while she is leading Micah on. And she didn't look remorseful at all. I know others will argue with me and say that she did what she did because she didn't want to overthink things and "follow her heart" but she explained to Micah that her mother unsuccessfully took leaps and she failed. So by jumping into bed with Will, she decides to be as slutty as her mother? It's horrible. We as an audience went on a journey with Micah as we saw him first fall for Emily and try to ask her out only to be disappointed in the end. Micah was genuine about his feelings for Emily and wasn't going to be with Emily for the wrong reasons. Well, maybe this was all for the best since the show is over. Now I realize why.

If the show would have had it's proper 22 episodes- Emily would have ended up with Micah- the creator said so tonight on Twitter. So you guys can exhale :)

Thanks for that interesting bit of information.

I thought she made the right choice for her. It's easy looking from the outside to say that she should pick Micah BUT, Micah is her boss. She is still getting to know Micah, she already knows Will and has been in love with him for forever.

Ugh, definitely should not have read this post. Spoiled...

I totally agree with you. At the beginning, I rooted for her and Will. But then I could tell that Micah had feelings for her, even before he admitted it. She did act attracted to him, and he was the ideal guy for her. I guess she just gave in to her weakness though, because Will was her crush for a long time. When people find out that they have a chance with someone they really liked, they usually go for it. But they made it out to be a horrible choice because Micah clearly showed that he liked her, and they were dating. By betraying Micah, she became the person she didn't want to be.

But now I hear they're cancelling the show, so it probably has the worst ending it could ever have

I don't think what she did made her a slut, i think that finally getting something you've wanted for 4 years makes you jump in without thinking. Had it gone on to have a second season i have no doubt that we would have seen the morning after effect, the realisation of what she did. Not saying that what she did was wrong or that she was with the wrong guy but considering the type of person that she is she would have felt guilty about it. The thing that i fins myself questioning is this, after she told micah what happened and she would have, would he have called it quits or put up a fight for her. Would these guys then have competed for her affections. Thats what i would have like to have seen, what they had in store for the three of them.

Yeah, I never thought she was a slut either. When given that chance, I'm sure most people would do the same thing. I'm not sure what would've happened in the second season, but I'm sure it would have been interesting. Too bad we'll never know.

No wonder there are so many crappy people in world when everyone seems to assume that that's just what most people would do. She could have waited and ended things with Micah. That's what any decent person would do.

Didn't see this reply till now. I admit that I'm not sure what I meant by that statement about most people making the same choice she did. I think I was trying to say that a lot of people end up making mistakes like that when they finally get the chance to have what they've wanted for years. But you're right, any decent person would've broken up with their current SO first. I certainly would now, if I were in that situation, and I certainly would've back when I wrote that comment 2 years ago if I had been in that situation. I sure hope it's what most others would do as well. I had probably just let the dramatic tv show character's tangled web of romance get into my head :) I watched a lot of tv back then... I still do, actually...

Agreed completely. This is the main thing, but I feel like the entire last episode was dialed in & didn't fit in other ways. Why have Will kill a Pt? I did not buy Cassandra's character initial reaction & then lack of support for Will. What about Emily & her roommate settling in together, what happened with that? Micah has a sister who he didn't tell about their mom's cancer, WTF? Do we really need dying with dignity as a theme brought up with everything else going on in this stew? & a crazy cat lady as a Pt? Writers were really hungover when they wrote this.
