This was the AMC $5+ "Screen Unseen" movie for January 3, 2024; non-spoiler review

AMC is copying the Regal $5 Mystery Movie now. The next one for both theater chains is Monday January 8, 2024 (the night of the NCAA Football championship game.)

The $5 plus tax tickets are typically for movies that are not expected to do well at the box office, are will quickly go to streaming.

This is not a comedy in the style of Mel Brooks' History of the World. It is mostly a drama about an atheist man living near Jesus. He tries to make money from religious believers. Except for the Romans, including James McAvoy, the cast is almost entirely black, including the 12 apostles and Jesus.

The quality of the production is quite good. The best joke with the biggest laugh comes near the end of the film, from a cameo appearance by Benedict Cumberbatch. The biggest mistake, confirmed by at least one critic, is giving away the end of the story at the start of the movie.
