Can't believe her character was valedictorian

All the really smart kids in my school were very much on the responsible side.

Leigh just comes across like she was one of the cool, popular kids, and I've seen some smart popular kids, but it takes a lot of time and energy to get the best grades in your whole class and she seems like she'd have spent lots of time with friends rather than classwork.

She just treats people thoughtlessly far too many times to actually be the valedictorian.

I rated this movie one of the lowest I ever have on imdb.

They hang out with teenagers and the assistant vp or vp is only 30 years old... class size could be around 15 per grade.

I'm guessing you're still young and are not familiar with the concept of burnout. The person she is now is not the same overachiever she was then. It happens, especially when depression is a factor.
