why didn't they even try?

Almost every scene contained words or phrases or scenery that just didn't exist in 1988 or 91 or whenever it was supposed to be.
they couldn't at least make an effort?

I noticed that during the scene at the office and Kat's voice over narration said that the ladies at the office were flirting with her Dad and he had "game". The slang term "game" for being good at flirting with the opposite sex didn't really enter the parlance until much later then the 80s.

I heard Kat say something was "so random". We definitely didn't use that term in 1988.

God, how do people watch movies these days? I watched the entire film and never noticed any of that petty stuff -- I was way too involved with the story, not looking for mistakes. Post it to the Goofs section if it makes you feel better.

I think she was narrating it from a later time.
