This movie was so good until Esther

She was so weird and (no offense) ... I'm sorry in advance... she was... ugly for Don Jon. (I'm like a 4 in real life)

I feel like this movie could have been better with a different actress. She was creepy looking. I thought she was gonna murder him lol.

THATS NOT TO SAY SHE'S NOT A GOOD ACTRESS. IT WAS JUST THE WRONG PICK

Julianne Moore ... ugly ???

Bizarre comments! The point was Esther, the older woman, was able to connect with Jon on an emotional and thus, sexual level, which the younger women were unable, or didn't care to try to do.🐭

Usually Julianne Moore looks quite hot in movies, but in this one she somehow did not. Maybe this was to emphasize the difference between Jon's usual dates, but it was really weird to me. If she was her usual MILFy appearance in movies, it would be much more understandable.

reply

She was hot — and still is, for her age. They gave her a makeunder for the role.

I think the movie was trying to say that beauty is only skin deep and superficial. However, by looking a little harder and deep you'll find a greater, more satisfying connection

I agree with the OP.

A wrinkled up grandma (55) is the last person his character would have touched. She wreaked the flick. A woman somewhere around his age, but not so attractive as the 8s, 9s, and 10s he was pursuing, would have accomplished the same results without grossing out the film.

reply

You and the OP are why this film exists. Watch it again, you might get the point.

You pulled that reply directly out of your ass. It makes about as much sense as using a dried up old prune, when a homely younger one would have made the EXACT same point.

She got the part because of her perceived acting ability, or a friendship with Levitt. It was his first directing experience, and put her in hoping to put a bit more Hollywood royalty in for insurance. Well, it backfired on him, because I promise you his character would never put his lips to her character in real life.

One of the needed components of successful sex through true love or appreciation, and reciprocation with a partner is "AN ERECTION", which a freckle faced 55 year old woman would never accomplish for him, unless she brought her daughter along for the ride, and a paper bag to put over the mother's head.

reply

1) Julianne Moore ugly? 2) You missed the point of the movie 3) She was the older woman who connected with John on an emotional and real sexual level.
