Changing the babies sex?

So Tim already has a baby girl then goes back in time to help KitCat never meet her bf so she doesn't get into the car drunk and have the crash leaving her in hospital so then he gets back to the present day the baby girl is now a baby boy.
His dad says that going back before you give birth can alter the sex of the baby due to different possibilities of sperm fertilising the egg etc
So how does he manage to get his baby girl back and KitCat back into hospital?
How did he alter time again to make to get back to his original life with his baby girl?

He traveled for away back in time. So any small change can have big effect in the future. His sister never was together with the guy, so all events where they were together changed also for him. Only small changes, but they sum up, a so called butterfly effect. For example, the conceiving of the baby can have now happened say 10 minutes earlier, resulting in a boy instead of a girl.
It's unlikely that the gender itself had changed, if he had traveled only after conceiving. But what his father said, is more a simplification. E.g. it's a mans side of view, so for him, the baby really only realize after birth, the connection with the baby starts there. His changes effect other peoples lifes, but thats not what they care for. So the time travel is actually only limited by their feelings, maybe also one reason why his grandpa was such an asshole, as he might have changed his life only for the benefit of money. Say he changed 2 or 3 times time before his son was born and he developed massively different, resulting in quite a disconnect for the grandpa.

How did he changed it back? He changed time again, so he never traveled back (likely by overwriting it via time travel to that point again), so all happened as we saw before in the movie.

Well put. Tim learnt the mistake(s) of his own and all the ones of his relatives too. And only uses his abilities for good intentions.

About Time is an quite an overlooked and underappreciated movie dealing with time travelling. I really wished this film was mentioned in Avengers: Endgame in that scene where Rhodey name drops a bunch of well known time travel movies. This thread is exactly the same reason why Tony Stark did not want any involvement in building a time machine originally in fear of changing his existing daughter Morgan.

I don’t think the last time travel makes sense, when Mary was very pregnant with the third child but Tim still time traveled back with his Dad. If even the smallest alteration in the past could change outcomes in the future then this was a huge risk to changing everything about that 3rd baby. What if Mary already knew the sex from an ultrasound, then Tim changed it? What if his time travel caused that baby to never be conceived? Tim could have set a new path where he was sick or absent on the day of conception.
