Can someone explain this to me?

In the beginning of the game, Aiden and Damien are trying to steal money from the Merlaut (The hotel Owned by Lucky Quinn) and gets caught. Because of that someone orders a hit on Lena Pierce (Aiden's 6 year old Niece).
We learn at the start of the game that it was Maurice who killed her but we spend a fairly large amount of the game trying to find out who ordered the hit. Isn't it pretty obvious who it really is?
LUCKY QUINN.
But it takes way too long time until Aiden figures it out. We learn that Quinn is extremely corrupt and has deep connections with gangs and runs big sex auctions. He is also THE FREAKIN' OWNER OF THE HOTEL THEY TRIED TO HACK.
Was this supposed to be a twist?
They got to have known he was the owner before they did the job.
The first time we see Lucky, we learn that he has quite the reputation and Aiden seems to know who he is so how didn't he draw that connection?
The story in this game is really one big mess.

I might have missed something and I would gladly get it explained to me.

Hey, I don't think you need much explained... that's pretty much it. Story wise... it is a mess. The characters aren't particularly interesting, they don't seem to make even the most basic logical conclusions, and yet some seem to have absolutely amazing skills.

So, I LOVED Watch Dogs. I do that with a lot of games that have a story I don't like... I ignore it. The things going on in MY "canon" of Watch Dogs, playing through ignoring all the random documents and audio logs was MUCH better than what was going on. Mostly because the gameplay is so well done.

Seven years late or not...

How does Lucky Quinn being the owner of the hotel automatically make him the prime suspect?

Damien had simply chosen the hotel as a suitable network hub ripe for hacking into as an access point. From there he had access to lots of other juicy network locations. Did you think they were siphoning money directly from the hotel? The hotel was secretly also a bank?

If they were stealing money from Quinn himself, then you might have a point. But they weren't. They were hitting multiple fat accounts and they knew they were pissing off many different people. The twist is that the hit had nothing to do with the money stolen in the heist, it was the secret blackmail files that Damien and Aiden didn't even know existed but Quinn assumed they knew and were looking for them because of his paranoia. What, you figured that out before it was revealed too?

It's called 20/20 hindsight. And motivated criticism.
