Great movie
I thought it was going to be a dud but it was exceptional. The beginning, the story, the ending. All great. I really enjoyed this and it seems like there aren't many original movies like this out there.

shareI agree. I really enjoyed the cinematography and the long takes/ tracking shoots they had in the film. Very well done. The acting was also pretty damn good, especially at the end. I liked how dark it got and how fast.
shareI was blown away. No pun intended.
It started out like a typical US drama/horror. But hell no.... things got messy real fast.
And it ended PERFECTLY.
I am so impressed with this film.
I think I would have liked it more if it had been more believable. The whole premise of the landmine is one that only a psycho would think up. Then for the girl to go and tell the stranger the whole story? Instead of replying 'yes' when he asked if her husband had gone to get help. Why would you trust someone and tell them all the dirty laundry like that? Then the end - if he wanted revenge, why not take it out on his friend first of all. After all, he was the instigator of what happened later.

Agreed. Surprisingly good. I was fortunate to watch not knowing anything about what to expect. That is the best way to watch this movie.
shareMy first IMDB post lol so here it goes:
I agree great movie, was not expecting it to be that good. I decided to watch it as i was bored in the afternoon and it did not disappoint. Very well made & well acted. Want to watch few more movies like this now!
Sorry, can't agree. Getting revenge is fine, but how Chris went about things was out of character and left the film with no character to root for, and it took too long in several sections
The way Chris revenged was really weird...........
His acting was also bad....it just felt like he was trying hard to copy Ilya.......
He wasnt fierce or brutal enough.........and it was pretty unreasonable to injured the daughters.
He should just make him admit to the mum and daughter what he did, and kill him if he wants...........
Fully agreed!!! So unpredictable and tense, best thriller i've seen in ages!!!

What's "doing feminism" any favours got to do with anything related to digging in order to help save a trapped on a mine innocent man's life? What's the concept of feminism to do anything in a situation involves saving someone who got trapped on a landmine, and how is doing a "favour for it" even remotely a priority in a situation like this??
shareAnd he was a Georgian, not a "Russian".
shareNow that we mention this part, in same year release's of 2015, director Eli Roth, who previously of course was famous for the 2 "Hostel" movies, the first in particular being notorious about the whole "travelling to Eastern Europe to meet grisly deeds" tale that sort of shares that vibe with this movie - Landmine Goes Click, made and released "Knock Knock", and in that film, the two LADIES actually DID manage to dig the grave for Keanu Reeves' character. (Also, in the twist of that film's plot, it was the man, played by Keanu Reeves, who was a victim of a particular bad deeds and from the ladies to boot, plus one of the actresses even looks a little like the Lika character at the end of this movie.)
And well?
With that aspect and anything else, it didn't exactly "do any kind of favours for feminism" either.
And many people, or at least some, who disliked that movie, ALSO called it "misogynistic" and "MRA-oriented" albeit, it was because the women there were villains and Keanu Reeves' character a victim, albeit of a kind of deed or even deeds where (regardless of gender of the victims), it is *usually* men that are the perpetrators.
In the end though, its all a matter of individual taste and opinion, and maybe, neither movie in particular was trying or intending to be this or that - as in, cater in a politically correct ways to either groups of people or audiences, let alone making any kind of grand statements about reality in general.
