As a mother of a five year old since this is. Rated PG....why have the prince kiss the wife? We walked out right away. No other explanation needed.
Why would you take a 5-year-old to a PG film?
A PG rating tells you that there will be content not appropriate for small children.
Because everyone in the movie was flawed, if the baker's wife wasn't flawed she would be a Mary Sue
Cinderella-Refused to take charge of her own decisions/running from responsibility for herself (until after finding out the prince cheated on her)
Prince Charming-Charming NOT sincere
Jack-Little thieving brat
Jack's Mother-encouraging her son to steal
Lil red riding hood-strayer from the path-i.e. ignoring her responsibilities
Baker-Man child-refusing to take responsibility for his life until after his wife dies
Witch-was, well a witch
Baker's Wife-infidelity, which the movie does a great job of portraying-her wanting AND not OR
Her infidelity was perfect for the plot and unfortunately paid for her sins, not having a chance at redemption
