How good are the songs?

I don't really watch musicals and when I was younger I remember always thinking "oh god, another song" when I'd watch those animated movies with occasional singing in them. But I did really like Pitch Perfect which is what brought me here (from Anna Kendrick's IMDB page). Should I give this movie a shot, is it similar to Pitch Perfect's quality of music or is it just generic songs like the old animated stuff?
