Embarrassing.

Don't expect an an exposé or inside scoop of any real hackers. Just interviews with cringe-worthy 4chan posters who were foolish and got caught.
The only person interviewed with any real merit was the guy who explained how American internet users helped during the Tunisian revolution which can hardly be attributed to "Anonymous."

If you're ignorant to literally everything surrounding "hacktivism" (ugh) then you might get something out of this. But not much. Utterly vapid.

reply

lol well that might be all true but u dont exactly help if all u can do is criticise so how about you tell us all where we should go to leanr. obviously as we are here on this forum on this thread / post we want to learn and you might be right that the film offers little real incite but then who does? You? wikileaks? pirate bay, southpark? come one tell us beyond saying 'google it' where should we start to get a well rounded understanding for the uninitiated into this mysterious world, please ;>

reply

I'm not sure what you're asking for. A specific link that deeply explores and explains the hacking community? I don't have that. Google it, by which I mean search upon the subject, read articles and come to your own conclusion re: WikiLeaks, 4chan's buffoonery or LulzSec's dick-waving spectacle.

If it really is that foreign to you, then, like I said, try this doc out.

reply

I don't think anyone expected them to be talking to people that the gov can't even find. The moralfags explained it quite well, unless you had been expecting a hacking lesson.

reply

You basically describe, in your third-to-last sentence, the purpose of the doc. Your ignorance is what your should be taking a closer look at.

reply

The purpose of the documentary is to show a dated surface of anti-sec? What's the point? I quick Google search would have told everything.
I don't see what the uninitiated will have to gain from learning about 4chan, they'll probably be just left bemused at these kids throwing words like "fag" "retard" and "rape" around.

reply

You miss the point, cynical. We get it your an almighty 4channer that knows everything about the groups nobody knows about. Please tell us more.

reply

@doing
i think his point was more that he tries to stay 5 miles away from 4chan at all times. the site has a solid reputation as the insane-asylum of the internet, famously populated mostly by foul-mouthed 13-year old boys who brag about their hacking-skills the way boys used to brag about their sexual performances (with just as little correlation to reality)

reply

history has proven otherwise. Anonymous is populated by adults and it was spawned from 4chan.

reply

Please, inform me, for my enlightenment, what your specific knowledge and experience is that makes you insightful enough to flush this documentary. I'm truly interested, no harshness intended.

reply

The whole point of anonymous is that you're anonymous. Anyone can be part of the "group." Hell, if you can figure out Facebook you can call yourself a member of Anonymous, which many people do..

You can not change my mind.

reply

The OP spent too long sucking Bush's *beep* and is unable to remove his head from his ass as a result. Cut him some slack.

reply

Huh? What has George Bush got to do with anything? What are you even trying to say?

reply

that he liked blaming Bush for *everything* and is to immature to move on with his life?

they have been labeled terrorists. But then again, I don't recall terrorists shutting down numerous kiddy porn sites. I guess kiddy porn is a pretty conservative past time anyways...so of coarse you'd consider them "20 something libs".

Agreed. This was retarded. I've used 4chan about once a year over the last decade and I could still write a more accurate history of Anonymous, not to mention far more interesting. Nothing but moralizing drivel here.
